Job Description:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Perform all essential Assistant Superintendent/Project Engineer job responsibilities as needed.
  • Attend and participate in the company's Safety Training Program and enforce safety procedures on-site to ensure compliance.
  • Verify subcontractor certificates of insurance and ensure documentation is complete before work begins.
  • Prepare and maintain responsibility for the CPM project schedule, specifically focusing on self-perform drywall and specialty scopes.
  • Build and maintain Owner and Architect confidence through professional communication and delivering quality work.
  • Recruit, organize, train, direct, and coordinate the field construction team, including self-perform drywall crews, millwork teams, and subcontractors.
  • Assure high work quality by setting and enforcing standards for quality control, particularly for drywall and millwork installations.
  • Order materials, tools, and equipment for the drywall and millwork scopes, and plan supply allotments to avoid delays or "crisis" buying situations.
  • Prepare and manage all necessary reports, such as time sheets, work orders, daily reports, and invoice approvals related to self-perform scopes.
  • Document and complete all punch lists for drywall and millwork scopes in a timely manner, ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Review all drawings, specifications, and subcontractor submittals, paying close attention to details for drywall and millwork to avoid discrepancies.
  • Chair or attend pre-job conferences and regular subcontractor coordination meetings to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Oversee start-up testing and turnover of drywall and specialty systems to the Owner, ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Manage final closeout documentation and ensure Owner acceptance for drywall and millwork scopes.
  • Perform manual work only in rare and exigent circumstances, when judged necessary based on independent assessment.
  • Maintain flexibility and ability to travel as required by management for project oversight.
  • Supervise multiple projects over a large geographic area, ensuring consistent quality and performance in drywall and millwork scopes.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree, or equivalent experience (4 years as Assistant Superintendent)
  • Extensive field construction experience at supervisory level
  • Current Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) Certification, or achievement of STS Certification within six months of hire, maintenance of active certification status
  • Working knowledge of all crafts (ability to read and understand specifications for all trades), and prior experience as foreman or journeyman in at least one trade, or project engineer
  • Knowledge of OSHA laws
  • Knowledge of job scheduling, planning, expediting and cost control
  • Ability in problem-solving
  • Strong sense of urgency
