Job description

Job Summary

A Logistics Manager, or Supply Chain Manager, is in charge of a company’s distribution, movement and storage of its supplies. Their main duties include reviewing budgets, processing shipments and maintaining logistics partners, and building delivery routes. 

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Timely preparation of rates and quotes for customers and overseas agents.
  • Coordinate the routing of import and export bookings with airline and ocean carriers.
  • Support the development of existing and new customers by working closely with your Branch Manager and the entire sales organization.
  • Collaborate with and build relationships with customers, carriers, and agent representatives regarding air, ocean, import and export products to strengthen service competitiveness.
  • Prepare all necessary shipping documentation related to international bookings and process all import/export documentation to clearing agents to include: HAWB’s, MAWB’s, AES’s, Manifest, Shipping instructions, Haz Cargo Decl., Bill of Ladings, and Certificate of Origin, etc.
  • Dispatch pick-ups to authorized agents and drayage companies, shipping lines, airlines, trucking companies, clearing agents, warehouses, and all other parties involved in shipments.
  • Track and trace shipments, researching and resolving any issues regarding billing or shipping discrepancies, communicate timely correspondence back to both customers and vendors.
  • Act as a liaison with Custom Brokers and agents, along with Ocean and Air Terminal Operators.
  • Support branches quarterly metrics while obtaining if not exceeding your individual metrics.
  • Monitor and maintain spend controls to meet budget spend targets.
  • Focus on Logistics Optimization to ensure our Supply partners are meeting our parameter for logistics models, charging the appropriate spend back to the Supplier.
  • Lead, train, and manage the logistics team to ensure high performance. Resolve conflicts and make key decisions on logistics operations.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, transportation, and logistics, operations management, business administration, finance or related field. 7+ years in logistics, supply chain management, or related field, with experience in managing teams and overseeing logistics operations.
  • Experience related to the following areas: warehouse, supply chain, logistics, replenishment, process improvement, and data analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical skills, and ability to multitask.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel.
  • Preferred experience and proficiency with Microsoft PowerBI, PowerQuery, PowerApps, Sharepoint, and PowerAutomate.
  • Preferred experience with Epicor Avente ERP and Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP.
  • Experience with Six Sigma or other Process Improvement Methodology is a plus.
  • Must possess a strong attention to detail and ability to focus on multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable operating with minimal supervision, ability to prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Ability to translate complex data into a simple to understand format.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence cross-functionally with both a keen attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
