Position Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Team Leader - General Education (Gen Ed)
Location: Office of School Health and Wellness
Salary: $81,929 - $111,190
Reports to: Senior Director of Nursing
Bargaining Unit: N/A
Benefits Eligible: Yes
Telecommuting Eligbility: Not eligible for telecommuting
Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse Team Leader (Gen Ed) will provide clinical guidance and supervision to RN's and LPN's providing services in school health clinics, while promoting health and safety through adherence to infection control guidelines, safety, and DPSCD policies. The nurse team leader will monitor daily functioning of the school health clinic and provide direction as needed in interpretation of student plan of care, medication administration, and care of students in provision of skilled care needs. The Registered Nurse team leader will provide orientation and professional development training to staff as needed.
Miniumum Qualifications:
  • Current, unencumbered Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
  • Mininum of a bachelorsdegree in nursing. Experience in school nursing and/or Pediatric nursing preferred.
Preferred Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook applications.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of MCIR functionality.
  • Proficient in oral and written communication.
  • Provide accurate, concise documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality in handling student records.
  • Act as a liaison between school administration and nursing staff.
Essential Functions:
  • Provide management of healthcare team members (including in-school and transportation nurses), including providing direction, feedback, coaching and direct support to ensure all team members are functioning at a high level and delivering competent effective and evidence-based care.
  • Monitor daily attendance of the nursing staff.
  • Assist the nursing staff as needed with interpretation of medical orders.
  • Provide clinical direction in cases of urgent/emergent student incidents.
  • Ensure that nursing team is properly documenting health related information and collecting appropriate data.
  • Receive monthly data reporting from nurses and submit to the Senior Director of Nursing.
  • Perform training and certification of the 4-person health team as needed.
  • Maintain communication with staffing agencies regarding contractual nursing attendance and job performance.
  • Monitor nurse attendance, review and approve/sign nursing timesheets each week
  • Maintain the inventory, ordering, and disbursement of supplies for school clinics.
  • Support immunization efforts as needed throughout the district.
  • Assist with completion of performance evaluations for DPSCD nurses as needed.
  • Assist with Medicaid billing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned through Office of School Health and Wellness.
