Job description

POSITION: Local Product Engineer, Electrical (Digital Product Platform)
SALARY: $104,000- $131,000*
LOCATION: Mahwah NJ

Reporting to the Local Product Engineering Electrical DPP Technical Specialist, North America, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing class leading Engineering expertise to resolve complex customer vehicle issues robustly at pace in addition to engineering responsibilities as defined by the departmental RASIC.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
• Vehicle Quality Issues. Utilizing JLR's technical assistance process own the triage, assessment, and resolution of client quality issues in the field. Working closely with senior diagnostic specialists, helpdesk technician, commercial and quality peers to deliver the vehicle fix at speed right first time. Respond to technical escalations within the departmental Kpi helping the business achieve its customer love targets.
• Driving Engineering Quality: Demonstrate exceptional engineering skills and judgment; support the achievement of departmental goals as a local subject matter expert (SME) for the Electrical (DPP) commodity.
• Customer Love: Work directly with the market teams to prevent the repurchase of client vehicles to improve the customer experience. Be a collaborative and engaged team member in the understanding of the most complex issues getting to root cause quickly using established quality processes and toolsets.
• Retailer & Customer Support: When requested, be on site to assist in the robust resolution of complex Customer cases, sourcing data and gathering information for Product Engineering. Support field staff with dedicated engineering level excellence.
• Customer Experience: Support industry-leading Customer experiences. Work in collaboration at the working level with Commodity, Quality, and Commercial peers in market and UK Engineering to ensure customer needs are met quickly and successfully.
• Systemic Issue Identification. Escalate high-risk systemic issues with urgency following process and
engineering communication channels advocating that they be addressed rapidly. Champion the visibility and resolution of high priority issues for the market in current and upcoming products.
• Expert Technical Support: Provide accurate and well communicated technical support to all stakeholders through quality escalation pipeline including the test and validation of solutions as required.
• Data Management: Conduct data management and deep dive analysis to speed up root cause understanding and resolve customer issues. Analyse trends and raise systemic issues as required working closely with Local Product Investigation.
• Upskill and Unity: Take ownership of sharing knowledge with the markets technical peers and actively drive a one team mentality daily.
• Performing other duties as required
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
• Bachelors or Graduate Degree (preferred) in Mechanical, Automotive, Systems, Electrical, Software, or applicable Engineering field. Candidates with equivalent work experience will be considered.
• 5+ years of experience in Electrical (DPP) engineering, with a focus on control systems, design, quality, NVH or calibration.
• Excellent understanding of Electrical (DPP) commodity systems and able to demonstrate a well-considered problem-solving approach.
• Automotive systems experience.
• Working knowledge of data analysis tools like INCA, Vehicle Spy, ASL, & Canalyser.
• Proven problem-solving skills; Six-Sigma training is a distinct advantage.
• Good knowledge of the automotive industry, including competitor and market awareness.
• Advanced knowledge of JLR products, technologies, and engineering processes strongly preferred.
• Ability to effectively communicate technical information to stakeholders throughout the organization.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• High drive, self-motivated, and able to deliver with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet firm deadlines while maintaining high standards.
• Team-oriented self-starter with strong business acumen.
• Ability to work with and negotiate with other functions to achieve common objectives.
• Proactive delivery and commitment to meeting deadlines.
• Available to travel as required for vehicle investigations and fact-finding tasks.
Schedule: Hybrid Ways of Working (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday- office days; Wednesday and Friday- choice days)
*Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized components, including location, skills, experience, and market factors. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus in addition to a full range of medical/health, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick/personal, and parental leave).
