Job description

Job Summary
The Actuarial Software Engineer II will design, develop, and maintain actuarial calculation software within modern, scalable .NET-based systems. The role combines actuarial logic, software engineering, and insurance domain knowledge to build accurate, performant, auditable, and maintainable calculation engines and APIs supporting sales, quoting, and illustration platforms. The engineer will collaborate with actuarial, engineering, product, and QA teams across India and the US to deliver compliant insurance solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain actuarial calculation modules using C# and .NET.
• Translate actuarial specifications, rate tables, and Excel-based models into robust and testable software components.
• Build and enhance APIs and calculation services used by illustration and quoting platforms.
• Ensure actuarial calculations are accurate, performant, auditable, and maintainable.
• Apply object-oriented design principles, SOLID principles, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
• Write unit tests and support automated testing to ensure calculation integrity.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve calculation and system issues efficiently.
• Collaborate with actuarial, product, QA, and engineering teams.
• Produce and maintain clear technical and actuarial documentation.
• Provide accurate estimates and take ownership of assigned deliverables.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and continuous improvement activities.
Required Qualifications
• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem.
• Experience with ASP.NET/.NET Core, Web APIs, and service-oriented architecture.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
• Experience with SQL databases, preferably SQL Server, including query optimization, data modeling, and performance considerations.
• Ability to interpret and validate financial and actuarial calculations.
• Hands-on experience using Excel to understand and validate calculation logic.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
