JOB SUMMARY:
The .NET Developer develops, maintains, and enhances enterprise applications in a dual-stack environment. Associated Food Stores supports core legacy systems on .NET Framework 4.8 while actively building modern solutions using C#, .NET 10, Blazor, and Microsoft SQL Server.
This role supports both legacy system maintenance and modern application development, including analyzing business logic, troubleshooting application issues, supporting modernization efforts, and building scalable solutions. The position may be filled at the .NET Developer or Senior .NET Developer level depending on the candidate's experience, technical knowledge, and ability to work independently in a complex application environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists in accomplishing set goals and objectives of the organization. Works effectively with the team by abiding by core values and best practices. Meets expectations and is accountable for achieving results
  • Designs, develops, and enhances scalable applications using C#, .NET 10, Blazor, and related modern development tools
  • Maintains, optimizes, and refactors existing enterprise applications running on .NET Framework 4.8, including legacy systems that support core business operations
  • Supports modernization and migration efforts by helping move legacy functionality forward while preserving established business logic and system reliability
  • Designs, develops, and maintains data structures in Microsoft SQL Server, including T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and database-related application logic
  • Troubleshoots application issues that may span both legacy and modern systems. Researches root causes, identifies solutions, and implements fixes in collaboration with the development team
  • Works with business users, technical team members, and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate business needs into effective technical solutions
  • Participates in code reviews, testing, documentation, and deployment activities to support high-quality application development
  • Contributes to team knowledge-sharing and modernization efforts, while partnering with senior developers on more complex architecture, design, and technical direction

Position Requirements
  • Education/Training: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, software development, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent education, training, and experience may be considered
  • Experience: Professional experience developing or supporting applications using C#, .NET Framework, Modern .NET, and Microsoft SQL Server is required
  • Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of object-oriented programming principles, relational database concepts, application development practices, and web-based technologies
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in C# and the .NET development stack
  • Experience working with .NET Framework 4.8 and/or Modern .NET, including .NET Core, .NET 10, Blazor, or similar technologies
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, stored procedures, and relational database design concepts
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, HTML5, JavaScript, and web application development
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex application issues across legacy and modern systems
  • Understanding of object-oriented principles, dependency injection, and common application design patterns
  • Ability to analyze existing code, understand business logic, and contribute to modernization efforts
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to manage assigned work, meet deadlines, and contribute effectively in a team environment
  • Interest in continued learning and growth toward more advanced technical responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using AI tools to improve productivity
  • Experience with Blazor or other modern .NET technologies
  • Experience with SharePoint or ServiceNow development
  • Mobile development exposure, such as MAUI or Xamarin
  • DevOps exposure, including Azure Pipelines or GitHub Actions
  • Experience working in an enterprise environment with legacy system modernization efforts
