The Document Processing Clerk is responsible for processing a variety of legal requests related to customer accounts that are received by the Bank such as levies, liens, garnishments, subpoenas, court orders, legal research requests, social security account verification, establishment of fiduciary accounts and power of attorneys, bankruptcies and releasing of deceased account holder funds to an estate or beneficiary in compliance with Bank and legal requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong banking background with a solid ability to read, review, and comprehend legal documents, ensuring compliance and accuracy in approvals and reviews.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review and interpret legal orders to ensure accurate understanding of the instructions provided.
• Reviews, process, and issue branch approval for legal documentation received related to customer accounts and banking transactions and references to any relevant laws and regulations to ensure requests and orders are processed in accordance with Bank and legal requirements.
• Prepare and file bank responses to legal requests with courts, attorneys, and agencies; notify customers by mail of actions taken.
• Assists with department intake of legal requests; creates cases for received requests to be tracked and managed electronically.
• Provides exceptional customer service to a variety of internal and external parties including customers, branches, agencies, and attorneys.
Competencies Required:
• Ability to apply advanced reading and comprehension skills.
• Possess a solid ability to read, review and comprehend legal documents, ensuring compliance and accuracy in approvals and reviews.
• Good internet research skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint portal sites), and the ability to quickly learn and navigate banking software applications and systems (Bancline, Mozart) and related government websites.
• CRM and case management software experience a plus.
• Excellent organizational and data entry skills, ability to maintain accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Customer service orientation with effective problem-solving abilities and sound decision-making skills.
• Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Ability to work flexible hours; demonstrated good attendance and punctuality.
• Analytical and detail oriented, while working at a fast pace and capable of multi-tasking.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism while interacting with internal and external parties.
• Working knowledge of banking policies and procedures with the ability to read and comprehend related legal documents, laws, and statutes.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
• 1+ years of banking experience with the ability to apply advanced reading and comprehension skills for document processing required.
Formal Education & Certification:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Work Status:
• Full-Time.

Working Conditions:
