Senior Commercial Loan Processor

Santa Maria, CA, US

Salary Range: $30.00 To $35.50 Hourly

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Business Loan Servicing Manager, the Senior Commercial Loan Processor is an expert in various loan functions and handles processes and issues of high complexity. Responsible for ensuring complex loan transactions are complete and accurate and are in keeping with the terms and conditions approved by the appropriate authority. Working independently and with minimal supervision, the Senior Commercial Loan Processor prepares and distributes key business reports, corresponds at high levels with internal and external members, and works closely with the Department’s sales team to ensure accuracy and completeness of reports and other documents. Maintains an in depth understanding of loan portfolios to ensure quality member service while protecting the Credit Union.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides high level administrative and operational support for the Business Services Department.

Reads and interprets loan documents, loan agreements, credit memos, modifications, and Promissory Notes.

Prepares correspondence on outstanding items for Commercial Banking Officers to follow (financial statement updates, insurance binders etc.).

Responsible for performing all post-closing functions.

Monitors the receipt of Title Policies, Deed of Trusts, UCC Filings, UCC Searches and any other post-closing items.

Supports the ongoing credit servicing administration for the loan portfolio.

Monitors Property Tax Delinquency.

Tracks and monitors insurance requirements to include force-placed insurance.

Maintains the internal tickler system ensuring collateral and pending loan documentation is received and perfected correctly, including, however not limited to UCC filings, Deeds of Trust, Title Policies, Insurance Policies, Flood certificates, Assignment of Life Insurance Policies, DMV Titles and all other covenants associated with the loan files.

Performs quality control on newly boarded loans and all loan maintenance by verifying that accurate information has been placed in core system.

Verifies accuracy of vendor invoices and reports.

Prepares follow-up letters to Commercial Banking Officers for outstanding items (financial information, insurance etc.)

Prepares thank you letters to Commercial Banking Officers for newly originated loans.

Maintains excellent inter-departmental relationships to ensure outstanding service and product knowledge to internal and external members.

Regularly attends and participates in in-house training.

Performs duties as assigned by management and may be assigned to work at any branch or office location.

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience

Associate degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Five or more years business banking experience.

Extensive experience in preparation of departmental reports for Senior Leadership and Board members.

Experienced in quality assurance and quality control.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Ability to obtain California Notary Public commission preferred.

Knowledge

Credit Union products, services, programs, and promotions.

Advanced MS Office skills.

Strong knowledge of credit, accounting, and financial analysis.

Thorough understanding of applicable regulations.

Knowledge of commercial credit analysis software desirable.

Other Skills and Abilities

Operates a variety of office equipment and machines.

Ability to travel, attend, and participate in meetings, seminars, and conferences held before and after normal business hours that may require unaccompanied long-distance travel and overnight lodging.
