Job description

Build Your Career in Automotive While Helping Keep Our Dealership Moving

Weโ€™re looking for a dependable, energetic, and detail-oriented Vehicle Prep Porter / PDI Technician to join our fast-paced dealership team.

This is an important role within our Reconditioning and Sales operations. Youโ€™ll help make sure vehicles move efficiently through the dealership and are clean, inspected, organized, and ready for display, customer delivery, or the next step in the recon process.

If you enjoy working around vehicles, take pride in doing quality work, and like staying busy in a team-oriented environment, weโ€™d love to meet you.

A Career Path โ€” Not Just a Job

This position is designed to provide a clear path for growth within our dealership.

Team members begin by learning the fundamentals of vehicle preparation, lot organization, vehicle movement, cleaning, merchandising, and delivery preparation. As your knowledge, speed, and proficiency grow, you can advance into a Vehicle Prep Porter II / PDI Technician role with expanded responsibilities supporting new vehicle inventory and Honda Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) operations.

You donโ€™t need extensive automotive experience to get started. Weโ€™ll provide training and help you develop the skills needed to advance.

Schedule

This is a full-time position with a rotating schedule:

  • Mondayโ€“Thursday: 8:00 AMโ€“5:00 PM or 10:00 AMโ€“7:00 PM
  • Friday: 9:00 AMโ€“6:00 PM
  • Every other Saturday: 9:00 AMโ€“6:00 PM
  • When you work a Saturday, you will receive a weekday off during that same week.

Because this is a busy dealership environment, flexibility, punctuality, and reliable attendance are essential.

What Youโ€™ll Do

As a Vehicle Prep Porter / PDI Technician, youโ€™ll help keep vehicles and the dealership moving efficiently.

Vehicle Preparation & Reconditioning Support

  • Prepare new and pre-owned vehicles for customer delivery and dealership display.
  • Wash, clean, fuel, and detail vehicles according to dealership standards.
  • Prepare vehicles for the Sales team and online merchandising.
  • Take inventory photos and ensure vehicles are properly prepared for online presentation.
  • Install buyerโ€™s guides, stock tags, license plate brackets, stickers, and required addendums.
  • Apply windshield protection products according to dealership standards.
  • Move vehicles safely throughout dealership, sales, service, and reconditioning areas.
  • Transport vehicles to and from outside/sublet services when needed.
  • Help maintain organized vehicle lots and ensure inventory is parked in the appropriate locations.
  • Assist with maintaining dealership cleanliness, including trash removal and tire disposal.
  • Communicate with Sales, Service, Parts, and Reconditioning to help keep vehicles moving through the workflow.
  • Perform other related responsibilities as needed to support dealership operations.

Growth Into PDI / New Vehicle Inventory

As you gain experience and demonstrate proficiency, you may advance into expanded responsibilities, including:

  • Preparing new Honda inventory for Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI).
  • Performing PDI-related preparation according to Honda standards and dealership procedures.
  • Installing factory and dealer accessories according to Honda iN standards.
  • Completing new vehicle check-in documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Performing vehicle damage inspections during transportation and inventory unloads.
  • Coordinating with Sales, Service, and Parts to prepare incoming new vehicle inventory.
  • Helping ensure new vehicles are properly processed and ready for the next stage of the sales and delivery process.

What Weโ€™re Looking For

Weโ€™re looking for someone who is reliable, coachable, self-motivated, and takes pride in their work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to safely operate automatic and manual-transmission vehicles preferred.
  • Strong work ethic and excellent attendance.
  • Positive attitude and customer-first mindset.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working both independently and with multiple departments.
  • Basic computer and technology skills.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, bend, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds throughout the workday.
  • Previous dealership, automotive, detailing, porter, recon, service, or parts experience is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

The Right Person for This Role

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Enjoy working with vehicles.
  • Like staying busy and being productive throughout the day.
  • Notice the small details others may miss.
  • Take pride in clean, properly prepared vehicles.
  • Show up on time and can be counted on by your team.
  • Are willing to learn and take direction.
  • Want an opportunity to build a long-term career in the automotive industry.

Why Join Our Team?

  • Career advancement opportunities
