Job description

This role will serve as a Document Management Technician (DMT) assigned to the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) program of the DOJ Civil Division and will work under the direction of a Project Manager. The DMT role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and accurate handling of incoming materials supporting claims filed under RECA. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and data entry skills. Expected duties may include the following:

  • Scan and copy incoming materials related to claims processing.
  • Data entry from paper document into the database.
  • Save and categorize scanned documents according to established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate tracking of document movement, including mailing and returns.
  • Adhere to strict confidentiality and compliance standards.
  • This position is temporary with full-time benefits with the potential to become regular full-time in the future.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT (Moderate Risk Public Trust) facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • Ability to perform detailed work consistently, accurately, and under pressure extremely important.
  • Must be able to read and follow instructions.
  • Must be able to understand task, task objectives, and the context of the task in the litigation support effort as a whole.
  • Must take the initiative to ask questions when necessary to complete task correctly (e.g. where instructions are not explicit or appear to be contrary to the task objective).
  • Must have typing/keyboarding skills and good communication skills. 40 words/min touch typing preferred.
  • Must be knowledgeable user of the Government's office and network environment, including but not limited to, word processing, database, spreadsheet, imaging, and telecommunications systems.
  • Undergraduate degree preferred.

Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position is between $21.96 per hour. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

*Employees will earn H&W dollars per eligible hour (including vacation and holiday up to 40 hours/week). H&W monies are used to offset the employer's cost of benefits the employee elects into and/or utilizes. Any remaining health and welfare monies after all applicable deductions would be cashed out to the employee on a 1 pay period lag.

This position is temporary with full-time benefits with the potential to become regular full-time in the future

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.
