Job description

The McLaren system includes 12 hospitals in Michigan, ambulatory surgery centers, imaging centers, a 640-member employed primary and specialty care physician network, commercial and Medicaid HMOs covering more than 732,838 lives in Michigan and Indiana, home health, infusion and hospice providers, pharmacy services, a clinical laboratory network and a wholly owned medical malpractice insurance company. McLaren operates Michigan’s largest network of cancer centers and providers, anchored by the Karmanos Cancer Institute, a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers. McLaren has 20,000 full-, part-time and contracted employees and more than 113,000 network providers throughout Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.

Responsible for providing leadership, direction, budgeting, and management of the Radiology (PACS) and Cardiology (CPACS) administrative team and the applications supported by that team. Continually strive to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with department leadership, physician champions as well as vendors.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • 1. Plans, prioritizes, summarizes, directs, and supervises staff, users and vendors in imaging systems development, and support functions with emphasis on complete, accurate, compliant and secure systems.
  • 2. Provides functional and technical leadership for the implementation of support of software applications (internally or vendor developed), enhancements or modifications.
  • 3. Monitors system issues and performance and escalates issues with the appropriate stakeholders. In-turn supports incident and problem management efforts.
  • 4. Prepares and recommends short and long-term goals and objectives for systems development and support functions and in support of the overall IT strategy.
  • 5. Provides insight and the appropriate level of reporting to various leaders and partners with McLaren Healthcare.
  • 6. Supervises and conducts special analysis such as requirements analysis, system feasibility studies, systems selection, and process improvement projects.
  • 7. Develops capital and operating budgets and demonstrates fiscal leadership and responsibility in utilizing resources.
  • 8. Establishes a knowledge base of issues and resolutions for common system and process issues.
Qualifications: Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field
  • 8 years imaging experience in a healthcare environment.
  • 3 years in an imaging managerial role.
  • 3 years’ experience in both technical and strategic roles in healthcare environments (in a large integrated healthcare system)
Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in business or related field
  • Advanced Clinical System Experience
  • Documented improvement in imaging department streamlining.
