Job description

As a Driver License Examiner with the Department of Transportation, you will help protect the traveling public while supporting individuals who are ready for the next step in their driving journey. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position supports the safe operation of motor vehicles across the Commonwealth by evaluating driver readiness and ensuring accurate processing of customer documents and transactions.

As a Driver License Examiner, you will perform the following duties: Testing Oversight: Conduct vision, knowledge, pre-trip, skills, and driving tests for non-commercial and commercial applicants Vehicle Evaluation: Review vehicle condition and verify that required equipment and safety features meet standards Document Examination: Assess identity documents and applications for authenticity and signs of fraud Customer Processing: Assist customers with licensing services, test results, applications, and issuance of products Fraud Prevention: Access systems to verify identities and prevent the creation of false or duplicate records Compliance Support: Follow all REAL ID, customer service, fee waiver, and Title VI requirements without exception Interested in learning more. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public. Special Requirements: All positions require an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.

All positions require no suspensions or revocations of a driver's license during the five year period immediately preceding employment. All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver's license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment. Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement.
