Job description

Responsibilities

The duties outlined above may be revised, added to, or removed at any time in support of continuous process improvement

Material Receiving & Inspection

•   Unload incoming glass shipments from delivery trucks using forklifts

•   All POs received must not be auto-assumed as received. The receiver must be verified against the product label prior to receiving.

•   Inspect glass lites for defects (chips, scratches, bubbles, distortion, coating damage) upon receipt

•   Verify delivery quantities against purchase orders and packing slips

•   Flag and quarantine damaged or non-conforming glass; document discrepancies for purchasing/vendor follow-up

•   Responsible for delivery of packaging good to the department.

Storage & Inventory Management

•   Store glass lites safely in designated rack systems (A-frames, vertical storage racks) by size, type, and thickness

•   Maintain organized inventory locations with proper labeling (clear, Low-E, tempered, laminated, etc.), and product label

•   Rotate stock using FIFO (first in, first out) procedures

•   Conduct regular cycle counts and report inventory levels to purchasing or warehouse supervisor

•   Movements for materials must be recorded daily and archived; if not, they must be reported.

•   Monitor and document inventory levels of parts, and supplies.

Cycle Counts & Physical Inventory

•   Perform scheduled and unscheduled cycle counts of assigned glass inventory locations on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis per count schedule

•   Ensure that you accurately record the count results in the Google Cycle Count Sheet, as this is essential for maintaining precise inventory levels in the Pref Inv system. Your attention to detail in this process is crucial for our operational success.

•   Compare counted quantities to system-on-hand balances and identify variances

•   Investigate root causes of discrepancies — including misplaced stock, unlabeled remnants, unreported breakage, or receiving/staging errors — and report findings to supervisor

•   Recount flagged locations to confirm accuracy before adjustments are submitted

•   Support inventory adjustments and corrections approved by warehouse supervisor or inventory control team

•   Maintain location integrity by ensuring all glass is stored in its designated rack or zone to improve count accuracy

•   Participate in full physical inventory events (annual or semi-annual), including pre-count organization, counting, and reconciliation support

•   Flag slow-moving, obsolete, or unidentified glass during count activities for supervisor disposition

Production Support

•   Pull glass lites from inventory based on work orders or cut lists

•   Transport glass to WIP Locations

•   Stage glass at production lines in sequence with the production schedule

•   Return unused or remnant glass to appropriate storage locations

Safety & Compliance

•   Follow all PPE requirements: cut-resistant gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, back support

•   Adhere to safe glass handling techniques to prevent breakage, injury, and strain

•   Maintain clean and clear work areas; sweep glass fragments promptly

•   Participate in safety training, improvement process, and incident reporting

Documentation & Communication

•   Complete receiving logs, inventory tags, and material transfer paperwork accurately

•   Communicate shortages, overages, or quality issues to supervisors or purchasing promptly

Garbage Management

•   Scheduled daily emptying of waste bins from the production department.

•   Responsible for Republic pick-up and drop-off.
