Description

Performs short-cycle repetitive tests and/or inspections involving knowledge of the product and the use of standardized measuring specifications and/or test instructions. Will examine parts and/or assemblies, rejecting units, which do not meet specifications. Will use calipers, magnifiers, specialized test equipment, and work form inspection documentation including blueprints and written specifications. Understands and adheres to proper documentation practices. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs in-process visual and dimensional inspections on injection molded parts against established standards. Inspections are to be performed at a defined interval in the injection molding department at time of manufacture. 

Performs complete part inspection by measuring dimensions such as length, diameter, and distance between reference points using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and comparators to ensure the product(s) meets specifications.

Maintains a record of inspections and prepares a list of defects, interacts with other departments to ensure compliance with specifications, and facilitates the acceptance of parts. This includes a shift-end summary report, format to be determined.

Provides guidance and transfers inspection skills to injection molding operators. 

  • Reports quality problems or nonconformances to the head of IMO and      QC supervisor, then follows up to ensure that containment and corrections      have/will take place.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language and be      understood.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • An associate degree (2-year), or      equivalent.
  • ASQ certified quality inspector.
  • Experience leading, directing, or      supervising inspection or measuring teams.

Physical / Mental Demands:

Job is performed indoors in a variety of settings including office, manufacturing/injection molding floor, quality control lab, and warehouse with no abnormal hazards or risks. Protective safety clothing will be required in certain settings, including appropriate dress code: no makeup or jewelry, shoe coverings, gloves, hairnet, lab coat, etc., as needed.

Physical activity includes sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, reaching above shoulders, and lifting up to 40 pounds.

Must be able to sit or stand throughout most of a shift with occasional walking. 

Repetitive bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and lifting. 

Work may require weekend and evening work

Must be able to work under stress and in a fast-paced environment.

Must be alert, able to concentrate, and use good judgment.
