Job description

Kilgore Industries is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the successful delivery of commercial HVAC and mechanical construction projects throughout Central Texas. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop project management skills while working alongside experienced industry professionals on some of the region’s most exciting construction projects.
The Assistant Project Manager will support the Project Manager and field teams in all phases of project execution, helping ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Project Managers with planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution of commercial HVAC projects.
  • Track project costs, budgets, commitments, and potential financial risks.
  • Prepare and manage subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders.
  • Coordinate material procurement and equipment deliveries.
  • Support project document control, RFIs, submittals, permits, and closeout documentation.
  • Attend project meetings and maintain meeting minutes and action-item tracking.
  • Assist with monthly project reviews and forecasting activities.
  • Coordinate with field leadership, vendors, subcontractors, and clients to ensure project success.
  • Monitor project schedules and help identify opportunities to improve project performance.
  • Support compliance with safety standards, company policies, and contract requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, trade partners, and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 2–5 years of commercial construction experience, preferably in HVAC, mechanical, MEP, or specialty contracting.
  • Understanding of construction processes, project controls, scheduling, and contract administration.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Bluebeam, and Procore preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.
