Job description

Juneau Construction Company is looking for an Assistant Superintendent to join our team based in Atlanta. The ideal candidate will have experience managing trade partner and subcontractor relationships through the lifecycle of a project. Experience working on multifamily, mixed-use. ground up builds is preferred. The Assistant Superintendent will support a project within the Juneau Construction Company footprint, and may be required to travel for the duration of a project schedule.

General Description:

The Assistant Superintendent's primary job responsibility is to supervise the execution of Juneau's projects in the field under the Project, Area or Senior Superintendent.

Position Qualifications:

  • B.S. or A.S. in Construction Management or related engineering discipline preferred
  • Minimum 3 years experience on commercial construction projects $30MM+ (with degree)
  • Minimum 5 years experience on commercial construction projects $30MM+ (without degree)
  • OSHA 30

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Overall support for all field activities
  • Safety Officer on project
  • Secondary contact to clients and designers for field related matters
  • Shared responsibility for schedule, quality, safety on project
  • Attend Weekly Subcontractor meetings as needed
  • Organize and manage Assistant Superintendents and Field Engineers
  • Assist in management of Self-Performed Work Crew (support Concrete Superintendent)
  • Provide input related to constructability and assist preconstruction with buyout
  • Key participant in formal interviews during contractor selection process
  • Assist with permitting when necessary
  • Create and maintain site utilization plan as needed
  • Assist in establishing master construction schedule
  • Assist in managing master schedule updates
  • Assist project staff with calculating additional time on delay claims
  • Assist in enforcing schedule compliance with subcontractors
  • Shared responsibility for quantity, quality, and assignments of Juneau's hourly staff
  • Manager of consistent quality control procedures on project
  • Participate with project team in detailed reviews of plans and specifications
  • Participate in subcontractor selection with preconstruction
  • Constant field monitoring of work in progress
  • Ensure compliance of safety related reporting
  • Participate in determining project field and hourly staff requirements/cost
  • Assist preconstruction with large material purchases as needed
  • Contribute to Lessons Learned reporting at the end of each project
  • Analyze and provide appropriate prequalification feedback on subcontractor partners

Physical Demands / Job Expectations:

  • Position will work on-site with exposure to various weather conditions and may require regional travel between applicable Juneau Construction Company locations and jobsites.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, feel, twist, walk, talk, hear, see, bend, crouch, squeeze grasp, crawl, kneel, squat, push, pull, apply pressure, reach overhead.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. regularly if required.
  • Must be able to safely operate all required machinery.
