Document Control Specialist
Job Summary:
The Document Control Specialist will manage and maintain critical records, ensuring their accuracy, consistency, quality, and compliance with established guidelines. In addition to traditional document control duties, this role will occasionally assist the manufacturing engineering team with hands-on support related to production processes, troubleshooting, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in document control, familiarity with regulatory standards, and some practical manufacturing engineering experience or aptitude.
In this role, you will engage in the following:
  • Create and revise part numbers to support manufacturing and engineering needs.
  • Organize and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), ensuring timely and accurate implementation.
  • Create, review, and modify Bills of Materials (BOMs), maintaining alignment with manufacturing and engineering requirements.
  • Manage and maintain critical documents, records, and the document control system to ensure completeness and compliance.
  • Review documents for adherence to regulatory standards, internal policies, and procedures.
  • Identify and report discrepancies or irregularities in documents, data, or systems and coordinate resolution.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with cross-functional stakeholders on document control and manufacturing engineering matters.
  • Assist manufacturing engineers on the shop floor with:
  • Supporting process documentation and validation.
  • Participating in troubleshooting manufacturing issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing activities.
  • Helping with production setup, tooling checks, and quality inspections as needed.
  • Understand manufacturing workflows, equipment, and process controls to provide relevant documentation and engineering support.
Essential Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in document control, preferably in a regulated manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Basic to intermediate hands-on experience or familiarity with manufacturing engineering principles, processes, and shop floor operations.
  • Experience working with Engineering Change Orders, BOM management, and PLM or ERP systems (CSI Cloud Suite Industrial experience is a plus).
  • Proficient with document management software and systems.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to follow strict procedures.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance, regulatory standards, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Ability and willingness to occasionally work on the manufacturing floor to support engineers and production teams.
