Job description

Human Resources Department Receptionist

This position will be assigned to Human Resources Department: Under general supervision, check-in and direct visitors and public to appropriate division personnel; perform a variety of duties involved in the operation of a multi-button central telephone system and main receptionist desk; provide information to staff, school officials and the general public accurately and courteously; maintain and coordinate the functions of the central mail room and perform a variety of clerical tasks; provides clerical support and assistance to the Human Resources Department. Exercise no oversight over County Office staff. This substitute/temporary/on-call position will be open until filled and cover while the employee is out or to cover for school events.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Experience: One year of general office experience which includes experience in the operation of a switchboard or multi-button telephone answering system. License or Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license and appropriate vehicle operation insurance.

Application Procedures: This is an on-call/temporary position. Applications is will be continuously screened. Qualified applicants will be invited to a written examination. If an applicant needs reasonable accommodation, we must be informed prior to the administration of the test. If selected, fingerprinting is required. You will need to supply our office with a negative (tuberculosis) PPD skin test clearance, skin tests, blood draws, or risk assessment questionnaires are accepted. The certificate is good for a four-year period. You can have the test done through the Santa Cruz Health Department, Doctors on Duty Clinic or by calling a physician or a clinic of your choice.

Benefits: No benefits are offered with this position. On-call/temporary workers do not receive vacation but do receive sick as defined under Healthy Families Act (AB 1522/SB 616).
