Job description

Job Overview: The Specimen Collector has responsibilities and duties related to patient care in a laboratory setting and/or on-site in a client facility. The individual must display behaviors that comply with the clinic's strict privacy and confidentiality of patient and clinic information, as well as communicate effectively with physicians, staff, and patients. The Specimen Collector must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of their job description. You may be assigned to a client's location for regular collection for part of the day, though it may change according to the needs of the client and the laboratory.
Primary Responsibility:
  • Specimen collection and lab duties (90%):
  • Collect urine and DNA swab samples, at various sites with VMW partners.
  • Handling and transferring specimens from one container to another.
  • Verify patient identity and obtain patient demographics
  • Label creation and data entry into LIMS and/or EMR system
  • Complete lab requisition forms
  • Appropriately label and transport specimens to laboratory
  • Confirm and clarify physician and lab orders

  • Works with team to assure efficient patient flow and laboratory operations (10%)
  • Build Mailtox kits and help teammates with cleaning your work area, organizing, recycling, etc.
  • Pick up specimens or drop-off supplies at other locations.
  • Perform related and delegated tasks and training, as requested.
  • Acts as Back-up and support to teammates.

Additional Position Details: (hours, locations, commute)
  • Ability to facilitate for up to 10 hours a day
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Compensation:
*Compensation range is dependent on verified degrees, certification and number of years in equivalent work experience: $21 per hour.
*The compensation range may represent the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, qualifications, education, internal equity and business needs.
