Job description

Southlake Orthopaedics has an opening for a full-time DME Coordinator at our Hoover location, which is a busy and very fast paced orthopaedic clinic. The ideal candidate should be courteous, professional, and organized.

The DME Coordinator is responsible for checking patient insurance benefits prior to the delivery of off-the-shelf DME (Durable Medical Equipment) items, including determining the proper payment required, and collection of such payments, prior to dispensing the DME item.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Check patient insurance benefits and obtaining required authorizations prior to DME product delivery
  • Dispense items from inventory after delivery to keep optimum stock par levels
  • Assist in the fitting of items from time to time when all other staff are with patients
  • Schedule patients in Greenway and Microsoft Outlook to the proper provider when product must be ordered, or a custom item is needed
  • Answer phones and transfer calls as required

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior DME experience preferred
  • Orthotic fitter or similar experience preferred
  • Prior brace fitting experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel
  • Competent in the use of a personal computer and tablet
  • Excellent organizational skills
