Position Overview

At Unified Door & Hardware Group (UDHG), Estimators help lay the foundation for project success by delivering accurate, competitive cost estimates. Your precision, problem-solving skills, and teamwork ensure every scope is covered and aligned with project goals. By supporting smart planning and strong execution, you play a key role in driving growth and excellence across our commercial construction projects.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Estimate Preparation & Analysis
    • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and proposals to prepare accurate scopes of work and detailed cost estimates
    • Identify labor, material, and time requirements to support competitive and complete bid packages
    • Develop cost-effective and labor-efficient schedules for project execution
    • Maintain and update cost databases for accuracy and future reference
    • Present estimates by compiling and summarizing numerical and descriptive data for internal and client review
  • Project & Bid Management
    • Maintain Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing finished quotes prior to turning the quote over to the Sales Representative
    • Prioritize assigned projects and prepare estimates for bid through effectively performing take-off tasks on projects where required
    • Pursue contract buy down after award of project from both the material suppliers and subcontractors
  • Miscellaneous
    • Support our values in the stand areas of Safety, Customer Focus, Teamwork, Integrity and being a Company of Choice for both employees and customers
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • College degree or equivalent combination of construction industry experience
    • Two years in the construction industry, with emphasis in the specific fields of Doors, Frames, Hardware, and Specialties
    • Great communication and problem-solving skills
    • Highly productive
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g. Bluebeam, EPWS.)
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Experience in the construction industry is a plus
    • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • High degree of ownership for projects, a sense of urgency and strong follow-through
