Job Description
The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for managing all aspects of the effective and safe distribution of product within a Sales Center facility and is tasked with ensuring that all delivery operations are running efficiently.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Lead and manage safe and efficient distribution operations, which include distribution schedules, delivery routes, vehicle assignments, truck inventories, supporting equipment, material handling, delivery, invoicing, and merchandising of product.
• Lead and manage a team of delivery employees; ensure team is adequately staffed, engaged in their work, motivated, well-managed, well-informed, empowered and trained for success.
• Continuously improve team performance and operational efficiency to increase delivery cases per hour and decrease delivery costs per case.
• Create and maintain a customer-focused environment with a commitment to superior customer service.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements including DOT, DVIR and OSHA regulations.
• Perform the required daily/weekly DVIR audits (gate checks).
• Perform regular route rides with drivers for a day of 1 on 1 feedback, coaching, development, mentoring and evaluation.
• Optimally allocate resources and manage/improve individual employee productivity and performance.
• Coach employees in work-related activities, personal growth, and career development.
• Achieve distribution goals, managing to all delivery metrics, including driver cases per hour, delivery costs per case, etc.
• Ensure daily DSD route planning is done optimally to build efficiency and consistency, thus reducing operating expenses.
• This position will be responsible for ensuring strategic route plan frameworks are updated to improve efficiency and to satisfy customer demand and service requirements with the optimal delivery operating expenses.
• Work closely with the Sales Center's leadership, sales, warehouse, fleet department, and corporate support teams to ensure that daily routing supports the demand, is accurate, timely and achieves optimal cost parameters.
• Ensure adherence to all Company policies, processes, and delivery standards.
• Responsible for execution of inventory management processes, including but not limited to, accurate customer invoicing, inventory returns, Check-out and Check-in.
• Work closely with company management to meet budgetary and operational goals.
• Maintain and enforce standards of health, safety, hygiene, and security.
Job Requirements
• Ability to effectively lead, develop, manage, and motivate employees.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization, to clearly articulate relevant ideas, opinions, and information.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment, and across teams where necessary, to develop relationships throughout the company and to work collaboratively.
• Previous supervisory and / or leadership experience preferred.
• Valid DOT Medical Card required, CDL-A preferred.
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in Warehouse & Distribution, Supply Chain, logistics or related field required.
• Basic technical knowledge and working experience with SAP preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
