Job Description:

We are seeking a Distribution Engineer II to support electric distribution system reliability, interconnection projects, regulatory compliance initiatives, and maintenance programs. This role will work closely with engineering teams, customers, contractors, and operations personnel to support distribution system planning, inspections, customer interconnections, and technical evaluations. The ideal candidate will have experience with utility distribution systems, engineering documentation, regulatory requirements, and customer-facing technical support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support distribution system reliability and maintenance programs while maintaining a strong commitment to safety

• Assist with planning, tracking, and managing preventive maintenance inspection programs

• Perform regulatory-required safety and security inspections in accordance with company standards

• Analyze reliability data from SAP, PowerOn, Enterprise Data Warehouse, and other systems to prioritize work activities

• Manage customer distributed generation and interconnection applications throughout the approval process

• Review Level 1 interconnection applications, verify equipment sizing, evaluate one-line diagrams, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations

• Coordinate with engineers and designers on Level 2 and higher interconnection applications

• Serve as a liaison between customers, installers, meter services, and engineering teams to ensure timely project completion

• Monitor project milestones, maintain tracking databases, and provide status updates to stakeholders

• Assist with budget preparation activities, including Requests for Project Authorization (RPA) and Energy Delivery Capital Allocation Tool (ECAT) submissions

• Respond to customer inquiries regarding reliability, voltage concerns, EMF, radio frequency interference, and interconnection requirements

• Maintain generation interconnection records and coordinate GIS mapping updates

• Support emergency restoration and storm response activities when required

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology or related discipline with 0-1 years of experience, OR

• Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or related discipline with 2-3 years of experience, OR

• High School Diploma/GED with 4+ years of relevant utility, construction, or engineering experience

• Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, construction practices, maintenance procedures, and utility operations

• Understanding of National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and National Electric Code (NEC) requirements

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, construction documents, and technical manuals

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with utility engineering, electric distribution, interconnections, or reliability programs

• Experience using SAP, GIS, PowerOn, CREWS, AutoCAD, or similar utility software applications

• Familiarity with database reporting tools such as Hyperion, Cognos, BEX, or Business Explorer Analyzer

• Experience supporting customer generation interconnections, renewable energy projects, or distributed energy resources

• Knowledge of utility regulations and compliance requirements
