This position is within the Laboratory Products Group (LPG) business unit of Thermo Fisher Scientific reporting to the Laboratory Plastics Essentials (LPE) San Diego, CA facility.

A day in the Life:

  • Manage daily distribution operations to consistently achieve or surpass critical metrics for inbound and outbound performance, order accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics to identify trends and proactively address operational challenges.
  • Lead overall site operations, including facility management and vendor coordination; partner with landlord to maintain building functionality, resolve site issues, and approve purchase orders for supplies and services
  • Collaborate closely with the Customer Service team to align distribution activities with customer delivery requirements and service expectations.
  • Act as a key liaison to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of orders and a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Resolve fulfillment-related issues with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term solutions.
  • Lead a cross-functional team at the end of each quarter to evaluate performance, identify operational bottlenecks, and drive process improvements.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental communication to ensure alignment on priorities and effective execution of central initiatives.
  • Optimize labor planning, shift scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure appropriate staffing and high productivity across both shifts.
  • Recruit, train, and develop team members to build a high-performing workforce that can adapt to changing business needs.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable work environment that encourages associate engagement and growth.
  • Identify training needs and implement development programs to ensure associates are equipped with the skills required for success.
  • Encourage a culture of innovation and problem-solving at all levels of the distribution team.
  • Initiate investigations into process failures, product failures, and safety incidents, determining and implementing appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Operate a safe work environment through continuous safety awareness and full compliance to all EH&S programs and activities.
  • Partner with EH&S to cultivate a safety-first culture and improve safety procedures and metrics. Serve as a safety steward by reporting near misses accurately and participating in safety trainings.
  • Uphold Thermo Fisher's values and standards in all interactions with customers, ensuring a positive representation of the company's commitment to excellence and reliability in logistics services.

Education

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $87,700.00–$125,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
