Discover Impactful Work:
The Distillation Technician - Liquids supports the Operations Manager and Production Supervisor in achieving daily production targets prioritized by Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. Following the priorities set by leadership ensures that distillation columns operate safely per procedures and meet daily production goals established by the supply chain.
A Day in the Life:
  • Operates distillation columns, related receiver tanks, & batch formulation in liquids department. Operates facility equipment (pumps, compressors, condensers, safety equipment, etc.). Performs sampling and testing of product per procedure
  • Focuses on distillation and related operations & operator oversight to maintain a high safety standard.
  • Oversee operator activities & daily operator rounds to improve safety and quality in the proves areas.
  • Assists maintenance department with maintenance activities and related work permits when needed.
  • Manages truck intake and outbound & related communication with liquids planner and truck driver to minimize impact on distillation productivity. Enters data related to all inbound and outbound raw materials and products.
  • When needed, acts as a packaging team lead or supervisor in achieving daily production targets.
  • Lead daily tier meeting for distillation process & batch formulation with operators.
  • Performs all required liquids manufacturing processing required to product and assess safe and effective products.
  • Meet distillation goals laid out by the Liquids planner's weekly schedule and/or requests.
  • Participate in safety and quality incident investigations, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs), etc. to drive root cause of the issues & help with implementation of action items and upgrade of procedures and batch records
  • Work with the Lab & QA department in investigating any issues that arise during testing of receiving tanks.
  • Distribute work orders as required for meeting production schedule.
  • Identify missing/unprinted jobs and work closely with label department and Fair Lawn Liquids planner to obtain these work orders.
  • Complete work order and perform label reconciliation at end of jobs to comply with QA requirements.
  • Assist in customer and internal audits as necessary.
  • Record daily production as work orders are returned to Liquids Pack Office and, when needed, any quality inspections required for kegs.
  • Support and participate in the company's efforts in Practical Process Improvement, LEAN, standard work, and 5s.
  • Serve as primary back up when supervisor or manager not present.
  • Enforce rules and regulations of Company and Department.
  • Other duties as assigned

Keys to Success:
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience
  • Administrative experience, 1-2 years preferred. Exposure to a production and/or chemical environment a plus.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of and operating experience of Distillation processes, batch formulation and adjustments or equivalent is preferable
  • PC literate with a working knowledge of Databases, Access, Work, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of various documentation and procedures related to manufacturing, shipping and receiving. Diligence in batch-record and log keeping.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with different levels of the organization.
  • Analytical ability to detect and solve problems.
  • Must be capable of multitasking in a rapid-paced manufacturing environment.
  • GLP and GDP experience a plus.
  • Must be capable of organizing time to effectively perform the necessary daily tasks.
  • Ability to quickly learn basic reconciling and inventory control practices and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong team-oriented interpersonal skills are essential.

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in New Jersey is $26.51-$35.35.
