Job description

Buffalo Trace Distillery, a National Historic Landmark and the most award-winning distillery in the world, is a family-owned company based in Franklin County, Kentucky, with a rich distilling tradition that dates back to 1787. Lead a high-impact team responsible for managing thousands of barrels of aging whiskey

What You’ll Do

Lead the Warehouse Team

  • Supervise daily barrel warehouse operations and union personnel
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and safety
  • Support employee development and maintain positive labor relations

Keep Operations Running Smoothly

  • Coordinate barrel and whiskey movements using inventory and tracking systems
  • Manage inventory control, cycle counting, and warehouse logistics
  • Ensure operations meet production schedules and department goals

Champion Safety & Quality

  • Lead safety initiatives and ensure compliance with personal safety, food safety, environmental, and quality standards
  • Maintain the highest standards for whiskey quality and handling

Improve How We Work

  • Partner with maintenance teams to troubleshoot equipment and operational challenges
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and processes
  • Lead or support continuous improvement projects

Grow as a Leader

  • Work closely with the Barrel Warehouse Manager to build leadership, operations, and technical skills
  • Gain experience in team management, production operations, and regulatory compliance

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Excellent organization and planning ability
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Passion for safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teams across operations and maintenance

Preferred

  • 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or operations environments
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement tools
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards such as OSHA, FDA, or TTB
  • Interest in building a long-term career in operations leadership

Work Environment

Our warehouse operations are active industrial environments.

You should be comfortable:

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Working 8+ hour shifts with occasional overtime
  • Operating in loud, humid environments around moving equipment
  • Maintaining strong attention to detail and quality standards
