Block by Block works hard every day all across the country to supply communities with hospitality, clean, safety and outreach programs that can help business districts grow and prosper.
The Block by Block Dispatch Team Leader is responsible for the daily supervision of the work being performed in the district and the Ambassadors in the field. The ideal Dispatch Team Leader should be a solid decision maker, have the ability to lead by example, work alongside the crew and do the right thing!
Essential Functions:
Quality Assurance & Control
  • Review reports, logs, and documentation for accuracy and completion throughout multiple software
  • Identify gaps in communication, documentation, or process-and take immediate corrective actions.
  • Ensure voice mails, call records, and reports are regularly checked, processed, and resolved appropriately.

Leadership & Oversight
  • Serve as the lead point of contact during assigned shifts for issues and escalations.
  • Provide real-time feedback, mentorship, and support to dispatchers.
  • Enforce adherence to dispatch SOPs and "Block by Block" operational models.
  • Monitor radio and phone communications to ensure professionalism, accuracy, and protocol compliance.

Operational Continuity
  • Ensure the dispatch center and Operations run smoothly during each shift.
  • Handle shift handovers with complete transparency and accurate briefing.
  • Implement emergency SOPs when needed, maintaining composure and leadership throughout.

Communication Hub Excellence
  • Ensure the team provides timely, calm, and effective communication across all channels-radio, phone, email.
  • Maintain knowledge of district layout and use all available resources to assist ambassadors and the public effectively.

Workplace Standards
  • Maintain a professional and welcoming dispatch center environment.
  • Enforce cleanliness and organization standards.
  • Monitor entrance points (where applicable) and maintain awareness of building activity.

Front Line Leadership: Responsible to manage shift duties of the clean and safe ambassadors while ensuring compliance to all Block by Block standards, best practice, procedures, and policies. Being fair and holding responsible the team to complete projects and remain productive.
Responsible to communicate and lead daily shift briefings while assigning duties and zones, reviewing events, weather and safety updates to Ambassadors. Providing excellent customer service in the BID and towards the team of Ambassadors.
Provide guidance and direction for the on-street and in the field operations.
Reporting: Must be able to provide written reports of broken infrastructure, graffiti on private property, and provide a basic daily report of accomplishments and tasks completed. Must be able to provide direction and counsel to team members and report concerns to Operations Manager.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum [2] years experience in dispatch or communications role (public safety, security, transportation, or related field preferred).
  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience is highly desirable.
  • Bachelors Degree Preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong multitasking, organizational, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Proficiency with dispatch systems, radios, and standard office software
  • Valid CALIFORNIA Driver License
