Job description

ESC has an exciting opportunity for a Dispatch Team Leader to support our trucking, warehousing and brokerage client in overseeing daily dispatch operations, ensuring efficient load planning, driver utilization, and on-time service. This role leads a team of dispatchers, supports driver communication, and works cross-functionally to deliver exceptional service while maximizing operational efficiency and profitability. This is a direct hire opportunity, working onsite in Hartford, WI.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of dispatchers to ensure high performance and accountability
  • Oversee daily load planning, routing, and scheduling to optimize equipment and driver utilization
  • Ensure superior customer service, email response times of 15 minutes or less, on-time pickup and delivery performance while proactively addressing service issues
  • Support driver retention through effective communication, problem-solving, and relationship management
  • Work closely with safety department on safety initiatives, driver training needs, new driver training and road tests
  • Serve as escalation point for complex operational challenges, including service failures, driver concerns, and customer needs
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time performance, empty miles, revenue per truck, and driver productivity
  • Collaborate with our logistics team to align capacity with demand
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, Hours of Service (HOS), and company policies
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices to increase efficiency


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in trucking dispatch, logistics, or fleet operations
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of transportation operations, routing, and load planning
  • Familiarity with TMS systems, ELD platforms, and dispatch software
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service requirements
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
