Job description

The OTR Dispatch Manager is responsible for overseeing daily dispatch operations to ensure the efficient and timely movement of vehicles across the transportation network. This role manages dispatch staff, monitors performance metrics, resolves escalated issues, and implements operational improvements to support service levels and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment, and has strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 5:00pm
Pay: $60,000- 75,000 Based on experience
What will you be doing?
  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the dispatch team to ensure efficient routing and scheduling of drivers.
  • Monitor team productivity and provide coaching, feedback, and development to improve performance.
  • Organize workflow and ensure dispatch staff understand responsibilities and assigned tasks.
  • Manage dispatch operations across assigned portfolios, regions, or lanes in accordance with company policies.
  • Analyze operational metrics and reporting to identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
  • Ensure quality, customer satisfaction, and financial commitments are consistently met.
  • Resolve escalated issues involving drivers, customers, and dispatch team members.
  • Support inbound dispatch calls during high-volume periods.
  • Assist team members with order entry, chats, and ticket management when operational demand increases.
  • Collaborate with Accounting and Operations teams to support accurate month-end audits and reporting.
  • Work cross-functionally with IT to resolve system issues and implement enhancements.
  • Ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are consistently met for assigned accounts.
  • Manage scheduling, PTO approvals, timesheets, and coverage planning for dispatch staff.
  • Partner with the People & Culture team on hiring, onboarding, coaching, and employee development initiatives.

What are we looking for?
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree in business, logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of dispatch, transportation, or logistics experience, preferably in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
  • Strong understanding of transportation or logistics operations.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience using dispatch systems, order entry software, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to analyze operational metrics and implement process improvements.
  • Customer service and problem-resolution skills.
