Job Summary

CB Freight Inc. is seeking an experienced and results-driven Flatbed Dispatch Manager to lead and manage our Flatbed Dispatch Department.

The ideal candidate must have strong experience in the trucking industry, specifically in flatbed operations, and be capable of managing dispatchers, monitoring fleet performance, improving revenue, and maintaining high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and supervise the Flatbed Dispatch Team.
  • Monitor daily truck performance, revenue, RPM, loaded and empty miles, and overall fleet utilization.
  • Ensure dispatchers are consistently securing profitable freight and minimizing deadhead.
  • Review load planning and dispatch decisions to maximize weekly gross revenue per truck.
  • Monitor the freight market and adjust dispatch strategies based on rates, regions, seasonality, and truck availability.
  • Maintain strong relationships with brokers, customers, drivers, and internal departments.
  • Negotiate rates and assist dispatchers with difficult or high-value loads.
  • Monitor dispatcher performance and establish clear productivity expectations.
  • Conduct daily performance reviews and address underperforming trucks or dispatchers.
  • Coordinate closely with Driver Management, Safety, Recruiting, Accounting, and Fleet/Maintenance Departments.
  • Ensure drivers receive accurate load information, pickup/delivery instructions, and proper communication.
  • Resolve operational issues including delays, cancellations, breakdowns, detention, layovers, and customer service concerns.
  • Ensure proper load documentation, rate confirmations, BOLs, PODs, and communication procedures are followed.
  • Help develop and implement dispatch procedures, performance standards, and operational strategies.
  • Provide management with regular reports regarding fleet performance, market conditions, operational challenges, and department results.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of trucking dispatch experience required.
  • Previous Flatbed dispatch experience is required.
  • Previous experience managing or supervising a dispatch team strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. freight market and flatbed operations.
  • Experience with DAT Load Board and other transportation/load-board systems.
  • Strong knowledge of rate negotiation, RPM, deadhead management, and truck profitability.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make quick operational decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to hold the team accountable and consistently drive performance.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a manager who can lead by performance, not simply supervise.

The right candidate understands how to build a strong dispatch team, maximize truck revenue, control unnecessary empty miles, maintain driver satisfaction, and hold dispatchers accountable for results.

Flatbed transportation experience is essential for this position.
