Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Dispatch Manager to lead our dispatch operations within a fast-paced asset-based transportation environment. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily dispatch and planning of company drivers and equipment, ensuring operational efficiency, exceptional customer service, and maximum fleet utilization.

The Dispatch Manager will lead and mentor the dispatch team, collaborate with Operations, Safety, Maintenance, and Customer Service, and drive continuous improvements in productivity, service performance, and profitability.

Hands-on experience with TMW Transportation Management System (TMW Suite/TMW Operations) is required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the dispatch department, ensuring freight is planned and executed safely, efficiently, and on time.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of dispatchers and transportation planners to achieve operational objectives.
  • Maximize fleet utilization by optimizing driver schedules, equipment availability, routing, and load planning.
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian and U.S. transportation regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS), safety requirements, and company policies.
  • Utilize TMW Transportation Management System (TMW Suite/TMW Operations) to oversee dispatch activities, monitor fleet performance, maintain operational data, and generate reporting.
  • Monitor shipment activity throughout the day, proactively resolving service disruptions, delays, equipment issues, and customer concerns.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Sales, Maintenance, Safety, and Warehouse teams to ensure seamless freight execution.
  • Analyze operational performance and implement strategies to improve fleet productivity, reduce empty miles, increase equipment utilization, and enhance customer service.
  • Develop and monitor key operational metrics including on-time performance, driver productivity, service levels, and fleet utilization.
  • Support driver engagement by fostering strong communication, accountability, and a positive team culture.
  • Assist with capacity planning and resource allocation to support business growth.
  • Ensure accurate dispatch documentation, load updates, and operational records within TMW and other company systems.
  • Participate in budgeting, workforce planning, and operational process improvement initiatives.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of dispatch or transportation planning experience within an asset-based trucking company.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience managing dispatch operations.
  • Demonstrated experience using TMW Transportation Management System (TMW Suite/TMW Operations) is required.
  • Strong understanding of fleet operations, truckload transportation, dispatch planning, routing, and fleet optimization.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian and U.S. transportation regulations, including Hours of Service and DOT compliance.
  • Experience managing cross-border transportation operations is considered an asset.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
