Job description

This position is responsible for duties as they relate to the operation of the Public Safety Dispatch Center, and for the safety and protection of the Creation Museum, other properties under the direction of Answers in Genesis, staff, guests, volunteers. This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring CCTV, access control and alarms systems, radio dispatch and other communications, issuing company ID’s, parking passes, lost and found, and key control. 

This position will allow one to impact others through a service mindset centered on making an eternal difference. This position should display our Core Values of SERVE (Serve, Equip, Relate, Value, Engage) when interfacing with both internal and external customers to ensure that the message and mission of Answers in Genesis is portrayed in an effective and God-honoring fashion. This position provides opportunities for spiritual, personal, and professional development. 

Responsibilities

  • Promote the mission and standards of Answers in Genesis.
  • Create a SERVE culture environment in all work done. 
  • Approach all tasks with a second mile mindset.
  • Prioritize personal integrity in all interactions and assignments. 
  • Must be alert at all times while staffing the Dispatch Center.
  • Maintain communication with other public safety personnel.
  • Must be able to professionally enforce organization and Creation Museum policies and procedures as they relate to safety, security, and fire safety.
  • Report any situation that may require service to the Creation Museum that could affect the guest experience.
  • Coordinate communication and response to any emergency situation.
  • Document unusual or reported incidents.
  • Assist in guest relation functions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Administrative functions as they pertain to the position.
  • Issuance of company ID’s and parking passes when required.
  • And all other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Must agree with and be able to sign our Statement of Faith.
  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Regularly attends a local Bible-believing church.
  • Experience with computer systems and proficient in the use of Microsoft office.
  • Proficiently type 35 WPM
  • Must be able to professionally interact with wide variety of individuals.
  • Must possess time management and prioritization skills. 
  • Must have the ability to learn different electronic security, communication, and fire safety systems.
  • Must exhibit strong communication skills (verbal and written), especially in the area of telephone and radio operations.
  • Must embrace the team concept.
  • Must have good problem-solving skills and the ability to think “outside the box” for solutions.
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure and multi-task in rapid escalating situations.
  • Must have good public relations and diplomatic skills.
  • Position requires a flexible work schedule, to include weekends, holidays and third shifts when required.
  • Typical physical demands include sitting for long periods of time.

  • High school diploma required (associate or bachelor’s degree a plus)
  • Experience dispatching or working in a similar environment, such as police, security, or EMS preferred
