Job Description:

The Walt Disney Company's Disney Entertainment ("DE") is a global business segment with the mission of providing consumers around the world access to the content they want most, on the latest platforms, at a time of rapidly-evolving consumer habits. DE is responsible for the company's full portfolio of entertainment media and content businesses globally, including the Company's entertainment direct-to-consumer ("DTC") streaming services - Disney+ and Hulu - alongside Disney's international media businesses. DE aligns cutting-edge technology with world-class content and beloved brands to expand the Company's global footprint and deliver highly-personalized entertainment experiences to diverse consumers around the world.

Disney DTC is a business unit within Disney Entertainment that includes all consumer-facing digital video subscription services across the company. Our core mission is to deliver global audiences the freedom to access content on their terms across any connected device, time or location.

Tactical Opportunities is a lean, strategic growth-focused team within the DTC organization, reporting directly to the SVP, Subscriber Growth & Monetization and the CFO of Disney DTC. This team operates within three main pillars of focus: product roadmap forecasting and opportunity sizing, sub growth and profitability strategic initiatives, and senior executive presentations. Our goal is to drive growth for Disney+ and Hulu services in collaboration with stakeholders across Product/Tech/Data, Business Planning, and Business Operations.

Job Summary:

The Senior Analyst, Tactical Opportunities, will support the DTC Business Team by providing daily analytical and business modeling support to drive and optimize our global growth strategy, with a heightened focus on the specific role product improvements play. Illustrative examples include ideating and evaluating subscriber acquisition, retention, and engagement initiatives, sizing new growth and monetization opportunities, and forecasting how improvements to the Disney+ product impact our financial results. The team also often leads presentations for senior executives and DTC leadership. Given the dynamic scope and type of work within Tactical Opportunities, projects will often be complex, ambiguous, fluid, and involve multiple stakeholders. As such, success in this highly impactful role requires robust analytical and presentation skills with a strong interest in leveraging data to solve problems. The Senior Analyst will be expected to work independently on projects with minimal oversight, and adeptly manage expectations of peers and cross-functional partners across Product, Data & Analytics, Subscriber Planning, and Business Operations. Broadly defined, the work in this role will help shape Disney's DTC growth strategy.

Responsibilities:

Drive growth opportunities through product and other strategic initiatives:

  • Architect thoughtful, thorough, and actionable assessments of initiatives through robust subscriber and financial modeling, which will be used to shape the Global Disney+ and Hulu product strategy
  • Drive product roadmap financial forecasting with heightened emphasis on planning and prioritization, business support, and continuous partnership with Product/Tech/Data org
  • Support Business Planning and Operations for sound execution and communication of growth initiatives
  • Leverage a data-driven approach to generate buy-in from cross-functional partners and regional stakeholders
  • Lead near-term subscriber and financial growth opportunities for Disney+ and Hulu with comprehensive and digestible presentation materials
  • Build Senior Executive presentations to tell the ever-evolving overall DTC growth story
  • Work closely with Finance to synthesize the DTC growth narrative across Subscribers, Revenue, Ad Sales, Content, and Marketing for fast and informed executive decision-making
  • Tactically execute quick-turnaround, executive ad hoc requests for the broader DTC org

Required Education and Experience:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in investment banking, management consulting, direct-to-consumer strategy, corporate/product strategy, or similar fields
  • Impeccable excel skills with experience navigating large data sets, building financial/subscription models, and tackling broader analytical analyses
  • Excellent PowerPoint and accompanying communication skills, with an ability to distill complex ideas into structured outputs and present to all levels of management
  • Thrive in ambiguity with a deliverable-focused attitude, strong work ethic, ability to prioritize, and resolve an array of issues simultaneously
  • Knowledge and understanding of subscription / DTC KPIs and media & entertainment industry experience is a strong plus
  • Bachelor's degree
The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $118,000.00 - $162,200.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
