Whatyou willdo

The Color Designerwill work directly with theCreative and Production Leadershiptocreatecolordesignsand assetsfor the seriesthat align to the style and sensibility of the show.We are looking for individuals who can make thoughtful color choicesregardingthe lighting, environment, tone, and atmosphere of each assigned scene.Responsibilities include:

  • WorkingwiththeArt Director and/orColor DesignSupervisor/Leadto implement their vision of the color design as it pertains to thelook,colorandstyleof the series

  • Obtainingcreativeapproval on all colordesignsthat are created for each episode prior to shipping to the assignedanimation service provider

  • Colordesigning andmaintaining/organizingwork as assigned, typically including but not limitedto:characters,props, effects,expressions, specialposesand size comps

  • Preparing and organizingthedesignelementsand design element filesfortheanimation service providerfor each shipment as it pertains to its assigned episode

  • Shipping design elementfilesto theanimation service providerwhen requested

  • Working closely withthebackgrounddesigns andpaintings,creating andmaintainingconsistencyregardingthe color and design of theseries

  • Collaboratingandcommunicatingneeds and progresswithsupervisors and otherdepartmentsasrequested,within the series and Color Design within TVA

  • Adhering to theproduction schedule provided byshow Leadershipto ensure cost effectiveandtimelyproduction

  • Utilizing TVA provided Harmony scripts as requested to ensure data and workflow consistency

  • Converting Photoshop to Harmony files, depending on the series process

  • Answering questions and problem solvingcolor design relatedissues that arise with theanimation service provider

  • Additional duties as assigned

Required Qualificationsand Skills

  • Expert knowledge of color and color theory

  • Illustration or traditional art skills

  • Knowledge of software includingHarmony, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D technology where applicable

  • Experiencedin the creation of detailed style guides and be comfortable dealing with internal and external departmentsdaily

  • A broad knowledge of artistic stylesandlatestanimationtechnology

  • Ability to align with style and color sensibility of show

  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written, e-socialskillsand acumen

  • Able to work independently in afast-pacedenvironment

  • Positive attitude with the ability to be flexible

  • Willingness toshareexpertisewith crew members and other Color Designers within TVA

Education

  • Bachelordegree or equivalent work experience

Job Location

  • This is a fully on-site role based in Glendale, CA.

The pay rate for this role in California is $56.44 o $ 62.11 per hour, which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
