Job description

Job Title: Senior SAP Basis Consultant

Location: Lansing, MI

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain SAP systems (ECC, S/4HANA, BW, Solution Manager)

  • Perform SAP Basis administration activities including:

    • System monitoring

    • Performance tuning

    • User administration

    • Transport management

  • Lead and support SAP upgrades, migrations, Unicode conversions, and system refreshes

  • Manage SAP HANA databases and OS-level administration

  • Handle SAP Kernel upgrades, SP/EHP upgrades, and patching

  • Perform backup, restore, and disaster recovery planning

  • Support SAP systems on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • Monitor system health and resolve production issues (24×7 support when required)

  • Work closely with functional and technical teams to ensure system stability

  • Prepare technical documentation and follow SAP best practices

  • Participate in audits, compliance, and security activities

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior Basis consultants


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in SAP Basis Administration

  • Strong hands-on experience with:

    • SAP ECC 6.0 and/or SAP S/4HANA

    • SAP HANA DB administration

    • SAP Solution Manager

  • Expertise in:

    • SAP Transport Management (STMS)

    • SAP System Copy, Refresh, Client Administration

    • Performance tuning and troubleshooting

  • Experience with Linux/Unix and Windows OS

  • Hands-on experience in SAP on Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP)

  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR)

  • Strong communication and client interaction skills

  • Ability to work independently and lead Basis initiatives


Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • SAP certifications (SAP Basis / HANA / S/4HANA)

  • Experience with SAP Security (roles & authorizations)

  • Exposure to SAP BTP and hybrid landscapes
