Director information

How does a director typically balance strategic planning with day-to-day operational oversight?

Directors are responsible for setting long-term strategies while ensuring the smooth execution of daily operations. They achieve this balance by delegating routine tasks to managers, regularly reviewing progress through meetings and reports, and adjusting plans based on organizational needs. Successful Directors maintain open communication with their teams, foster collaboration across departments, and stay adaptable to changes in business priorities. This dual focus allows Directors to drive both immediate results and sustainable growth.

Job description

Welcome to the intersection of energy and home services. At NRG, we're driven by our passion to create a smarter, cleaner and more connected future.

Vivint Smart Home, an NRG owned company, is a leading smart home company in the United States, dedicated to redefining the home experience with intelligent products and services. We find purpose in proactively protecting and keeping our customers connected to home, no matter where they are. Join the Smart Home team to create smarter, safer and more sustainable homes.

We're seeking a dynamic, strategic, and experienced Director of Media to lead a high-performing, multi-disciplinary media team. This leader will guide, mentor, and lead a talented group of managers, photographers, videographers, and media specialists-across brand marketing, social, and internal media for Vivint. Our team consistently delivers exceptional, high caliber, business-driving work.

Our ideal candidate is an experienced director and cinematographer with an award-winning portfolio of captivating media. We are looking for a visionary and an organized operator: someone who can nurture creativity, uphold standards of excellence, and scale systems and talent within a team that already sets a high bar. You will completely own the evolution and stewardship of our brand's media personality, ensuring it remains consistent, elevated, and aligned with our strategic vision. We move faster than most media teams, and we look for leaders who can thrive in that intensity without compromising quality. You should be comfortable multi-tasking dozens of projects amongst your team, as well as managing your own output. You create the kind of work that turns heads, sparks conversation, and quietly makes others rethink their own output. You must be confident presenting and defending creative decisions in high-stakes rooms-translating creative rationale into strategic value for senior stakeholders. You're the kind of leader who checks ego at the door, leads by example, and puts your team first. No project is beneath you to complete yourself, and you are ready to jump in when needed, provide clarity and support, and clearly communicate and fight for the career growth of your teammates. You don't just put out fires-you spot the smoke before it starts and build systems to prevent the blaze. You should have a proven track record of developing well-crafted, strategically grounded advertising campaigns.

This isn't a place to coast. Vivint is in a high-growth, high-impact phase, and we need someone who's hungry to lead through bold creativity and sharp strategy-and help us leave the competition behind.

  • Exceptional portfolio showcasing high-level cinematography, editing, and directing skills
  • 8+ years of senior-level experience in media production
  • Strong background in agency or fast-paced, deadline-driven environments (highly preferred)
  • Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of media production across broadcast, web, digital, and social platforms
  • Proven track record of pitching and executing end-to-end marketing campaigns-from concept to execution-across diverse channels and target audiences
  • Demonstrated success in managing and inspiring high-performing creative teams
  • Confident presenter with the ability to communicate creative vision and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Exceptional project management and organizational abilities
