About Us

Job Summary
The Writing Center invites applications for tutoring for the Fall 2026-Spring 2027 academic year. Tutors will guide students in one-on-one tutoring sessions and help their peers with academic papers for courses at UNG on the Dahlonega campus.
Responsibilities
  • Students will work 6-10 hours per week as tutors at the Dahlonega Writing Center in LTC 180 and will be enrolled in English 3910, a training course for the position.
  • Tutors will fill out paperwork related to tutoring sessions and report to supervisor on a regular basis.
  • Some tutors may join a section of English 1101/1102 as an embedded tutor to serve as a liaison between students and the Writing Center.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of academic writing and the writing process.
  • Should have basic knowledge of documentation style and grammar as well as familiarity with the various stages of the writing process.
  • Ability to work effectively with peers and guide them through the various stages of the writing process.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior formal or informal tutoring/teaching experience recommended.
