GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
Leads and interprets Ulta Supply Chain strategic direction and vision to drive the overall success of an automated, retail distribution center. Ensures a safe, productive, and positive work environment while overseeing the daily operations, planning, organization, and execution of the distribution center and budget. Contributes to the development of distribution center leadership and career growth opportunities for Distribution Center employees through coaching, performance management, and active development planning, reinforcing a culture of accountability and excellence.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Our DC Directors are champions of Ulta Beauty's mission, vision, and values, and should demonstrate them skillfully and consistently by performing the following duties and responsibilities of the position (as well as all other projects/duties as assigned):
Performance
  • Inspires, leads, and motives high-energy, results-driven teams in a fast-paced retail and eCommerce operations environment
  • Strategically and effectively leads cross-functional teams with diverse goals and responsibilities
  • Applies strong business acumen to identify opportunities for growth and operational improvement. Proactively identifies, addresses, and recommends solutions for any operational issues that may impact the associate experience, service levels, and guest satisfaction
  • Achieves or exceeds distribution center productivity goals weekly
  • Develops and maintains annual operating budget and KPI metrics
  • Achieves operating and financial objectives within budgeted guidelines
  • Drives continuous improvement in productivity and financial performance
  • Ensures effective communication within the DC of all key initiatives to encourage a consistent understanding of the reasons for, direction of, and expected results of each project
  • Oversees facilities management, including vendor selection, negotiation of rates and service contracts
  • Interfaces with other directors and senior managers to provide integrated operating goals that align with overall Company objectives
  • Recommends measures to improve the supply chain, distribution methods, team performance, and quality of product
  • Maintains consistent, reliable attendance to support business needs

People
  • Manages a direct team of senior operational leaders and is responsible for the performance and development of all associates inside of the distribution center
  • Champions and models Ulta Beauty's mission, vision, and values
  • Demonstrates high standards of associate safety, customer service, and servant leadership
  • Provides coaching and feedback to improve individual and team performance, sharing best practices to drive consistency and excellence
  • Oversees all non-exempt and exempt team staffing needs inside the DC
  • Leads and executes best practices to promote associate engagement and to enable a high-performing workforce that contributes to the Company's strategic growth and business objectives
  • Role models behaviors aligned to a values-based, guest-centric, high performing culture with an emphasis on embracing our competencies and delivering with subject matter expertise
  • Partners across the network organization to coach and develop leaders to ensure they are building culture action plans that best align to our people strategies and business initiatives
  • Participates in talent calibration, culture survey action planning, goal setting and rollout, performance review consultation, and IDP creation/execution
  • Attends mandatory trainings and meetings to enable continuous professional development, completes all training on time

  • Maintains thorough knowledge of and ensures compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards
  • Develops and implements operational strategies to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Learns and adapts quickly to new processes, communicating changes clearly across team and shift
  • Maintains outstanding DC operational standards, including cleanliness department, work areas, and building spaces
  • Protects Company assets by following loss prevention best practices and procedures.
  • Manages operations to maximize efficiencies and productivity, optimize labor cost expenditures, and ensure safe operating practices
  • Develops strategic direction and establishes appropriate priorities for projects critical to success
  • Ensures that all organizational activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations, and interacts with regulatory officials as required
  • Assesses organizational and operational effectiveness, while advocating process and technology changes/enhancements that will improve operating processes and performance
  • Executes other operational tasks as directed

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience

Experience
  • 10+ years previous supply chain, distribution center or warehouse leadership experience

Skills
  • Strong leadership and team engagement skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of distribution and eCommerce operations in a retail environment
  • Ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships/ relationships with peers
  • Professional communication skills
  • Proven proficiency with process improvement with the innovation to apply process improvement initiatives
  • The ability to lead cross-functional teams with diverse goals and responsibilities
  • Demonstrated skill in driving initiatives related to teams, projects, and quality
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, including troubleshooting, problem solving prioritizing, and multi-tasking

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Generally, works a set schedule with potential to rotate based on business needs. After hours support as needed, 24/7 on-call to support the operation at all hours
  • Works a flexible, full-time schedule, to include days, evenings, weekend, and holidays
  • Visits stores to develop an understanding of the store experience and collaborate with field partners
  • Travels as needed, including overnight stays

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Constant exposure to distribution center conditions, which may include loud noises, variable temperatures, a dusty environment, and strong scents related to cosmetics or fragrance

The pay range for this position is $171,600.00 - $200,500.00 / Year with the opportunity for eligible associates to earn additional compensation pursuant to the Company's bonus plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business and organizational needs. Full-time positions are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life and disability benefits. Part-time positions are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
