THE ROLE
The Director of Risk Management is a senior leader responsible for executing and advancing the company's risk, safety, and loss prevention strategies across a diverse portfolio of venues, events, and operations. This role leads a team of Loss Prevention Managers and partners cross-functionally with legal, operations, HR, and external stakeholders to reduce risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve overall loss performance.
The Director will play a critical role in translating strategic risk objectives into operational execution, strengthening safety culture, and enhancing the company's risk profile with insurers, brokers, and business partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Review contractual indemnity and insurance language and review exception requests with VP-Risk Management
• Ensure appropriate risk transfer mechanisms are in place including additional insured status and coverage requirements with all clients and vendor partners
• Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on contractual risk exposure
• Serve as a subject matter expert in safety, loss prevention and incident reduction strategies.
• Design, implement, and continuously improve safety programs across all operations
• Analyze loss trends and develop targeted mitigation strategies to reduce frequency and severity of claims
• Partner with leadership to embed a proactive safety culture
• Ensure compliance with all applicable occupational health and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, ADA, and local equivalents)
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate operational and enterprise risks
• Support internal audits, regulatory inspections, and corrective action plans
• Manage relationships with third-party vendors supporting safety, claims, and risk initiatives
• Oversee and optimize the use of Origami (Legends RMIS)
• Ensure accurate and timely claims, incident, and exposure data collection and reporting
• Develop and implement risk management and safety training programs for leadership and employees.
• Oversee the creation and distribution of the company's Risk Management newsletter, highlighting key trends, incidents, and best practices.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all Legends Global policies and applicable laws. Leads, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Loss Prevention Managers across multiple locations. Will establish clear performance metrics, accountability standards, and professional development plans for this team. Will drive consistency in safety and risk management practices across all venues and operating units.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
• 8+ years of progressive experience in risk management, safety, or loss prevention
• 3+ years of leadership experience managing multi-site teams
• Experience in sports, entertainment, hospitality, or large venue operations strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience with RMIS platforms (e.g. Origami)
• Proven experience reviewing and advising on contractual indemnity and insurance provisions
Skills and Abilities
• Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous priorities and achieve results without close supervision is necessary.
• Strong leadership and team development capabilities with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization
• Deep expertise in safety, loss prevention, and occupational health and safety compliance
• Strong understanding of insurance principles, risk transfer, and claims management
• Ability to Analyze complex data sets and translate insights into actionable strategies
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including executive level reporting
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
