BHE GT&S has an exciting opportunity as a Network Engineer 1/Network Engineer 2/Network Engineer 3 at our headquarters in Glen Allen, VA or our Bridgeport, WV location.
Responsibilities
the Network Engineer 1/Network Engineer 2/Network Engineer 3 Develops plans, designs, resource requirements and cost estimates for construction, maintenance projects and support involving enterprise high availability data center networks and multi-platform domestic and international data network connectivity. These efforts support large, customer-facing electric and gas utility and realty services, including Internet and mail hosting services and all corporate IT services at data centers, electric and gas transmission and distribution facilities and electric generation facilities. Plan and coordinate cross-functional or cross-company work, change management and resource availability. The successful candidate will monitor systems operations and adjust operational plans accordingly.
  • Demonstration of technical knowledge and a growing knowledge of the company's information systems and infrastructure design.
  • Must possess advanced enterprise networking fundamentals, including complex switching and routing knowledge, high availability system designs skills, advanced network security design skills, Internet services and protocols knowledge, advanced network diagnostics capabilities.
  • Provide accurate input into the budget process and contribute to meeting the actual targets.
  • Compliance with industry and corporate technology standards - interpret industry regulatory standards, develop technical policies and procedures, and administer systems with zero tolerance for error.
  • Emphasis on identification and fulfillment of customer requirements.
  • Participation on teams that results in contribution to achievement of team goals and objectives.
  • Perform responsibilities as directed within determined time frames and with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department and the company.

  • Maintain sensitive and confidential information regarding company information.

  • Be on-call periodically to provide on-site or remote support at any time when called upon. Liaise and coordinate with multi-platform business and technical colleagues on various project implementations.

*Candidate should be able to lift 15-20 lbs.
*Please note that a remote option is not available for this position - all applicants should have the expectation of working on-site full time in an office environment.
Qualifications
Network Engineer 1:
0-3 years basic experience with voice and data networking, or general telecommunications experience.
Network Engineer 2:
Four to six years telecommunications network experience desired. Good understanding of network planning or analysis.
Network Engineer 3:
Eight plus years of telecommunications network experience desired.
Expert-level understanding of network planning or analysis.
Lead or Technical SME role on major telecommunications projects or operations.
Education
Bachelor (Typically four years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
