Job description

TRCs client is an established telecommunications provider looking for a fully remote Network Engineer to join their team on a full-time, direct hire basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and deploy customer L3 and L2 access networks (including routers, firewalls, switches, and L2 access gear), and LANs, WANs, and wireless networks (including routers, firewalls, load balancers, hubs, switches, etc.).

  • Configure, test, and maintain LAN / WAN equipment and related services; provide advanced tier 2 and 3 technical support for internal and external customers.

  • Review, suggest, and implement network improvements to enhance redundancy, stability, and performance; advise members on VLAN configuration and IP distribution / usage and balance BGP sessions for optimal traffic distribution.

  • Monitor and maintain all levels of network security internally and externally; select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the security team.

  • Provide support for engineering and professional services projects, as well as troubleshooting, resolving problems, and implementing new services for customers.

  • Communicate with various internal and external teams of varying technical knowledge, including mentorship of junior level staff and leading meetings with external leadership teams to understand customer needs.


REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

  • 5+ years of experience managing network infrastructure, including troubleshooting, physical installations, modifications, replacements and configuration changes

  • Exceptional knowledge of network protocols across vendors; familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, Calix, and/or Adtran products and systems

  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills and communication abilities with groups of varying technical knowledge

  • Willingness and ability to work an on-call support rotation
