DEFINITION
The Sr. Restaurant Design Manager will work with the Design Team to direct a multitude of outsourced architects and consultants responsible for producing construction documents for development of new and remodel of existing and franchised restaurants. It is the responsibility of this role is to ensure that the construction documents are consistent with design objectives and architectural quality standards while communicating Zaxby's brand image. The ideal candidate will possess the skills and experience necessary for establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization and industry professionals - particularly in branded design, restaurant or multi-unit retail industry.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential duties may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Direct a team of outsourced architects and consultants responsible for producing construction documents for development of new, existing and franchised restaurants.
  • Ensure that the construction documents are consistent with design objectives and architectural quality standards while communicating Zaxby's brand image for new growth and remodels.
  • Review and approve site plans and site adapted building plans for company and franchise new and remodel projects.
  • Provide creative insight and support to the internal design team and architects for custom or unique site conditions, overall site planning, solutions for conversions, design review requirements and other non-traditional projects.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop unique design solutions to complex problems in space planning, construction details, material selection and branded storefronts.
  • Communicate design solutions by utilizing industry standard design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch Up, Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Uses analytics, lessons learned, and best practices from prior projects to incorporate into design standards.
  • Developing strategic and operational plans for the design team, managing execution, and measuring results.
  • Responsible for the tracking of drawings from concept to opening.
  • Manages prototype updates on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Oversees the design process to ensure that designs meet Zaxby's, jurisdictional and landlord design criteria, and that construction documents comply with internal quality standards.
  • Prepares, communicates and educates the project teams on changes in policies and practices within the organization.
  • Tracks architectural design changes and modifications for impact on the store development budget.
  • Effectively communicate with franchisees and manage all approvals during the development of new and remodel restaurants.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Familiar with standard construction bidding and budgeting practices.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, InDesign, SketchUp, Revit and Photoshop a plus.
  • Experience in branded design, restaurant or multi-unit retail industry.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization and industry professionals
  • Ability to deliver results under heavy pressure and tight deadlines
  • Must maintain disciplined time management and follow- up to completion
  • Strong communication, team leadership and management skills
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently lead complex, large scale initiatives
  • Must have problem solving skills to remove obstacles and resolve conflict
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, consumer brand organization

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Architectural Design, Business Administration or related discipline
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in Architectural Design or Design Project Management; 5+ years of experience managing and working with construction plans and specifications for multi-unit new and remodel projects, directly managing a team of external consultants, managing and working with architectural and site plan design

SALARY RANGE: $105,000 - $135,000
