Manage multiple brands (Shiseido, Cle De Peau, Hermes, Narciso Rodriguez, Nars) across multiple US retail partners (Macys, Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks, etc)
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Executive Director, US Store Design and Visual Merchandising (SDVM), the Director, Store Design is responsible for managing and driving store design projects across multiple retail partners and channels (boutiques, department stores, specialty and open-sell). He/she has exceptional design sensibility along with proven track record in project management, implementation and roll-out of store design projects. This individual must be highly creative and be able to deliver speed-to-market design and construction solutions at all points of sales, while optimizing cost and supporting business and commercial priorities for Shiseido brands. He/she should possess an elevated sense of aesthetic and creativity in-line with luxury and prestige industry. This individual must be passionate, results-driven, agile and a true team player. Must be a self-starter with strong organizational and presentation skills along with excellent people management and negotiation abilities.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
CONCEPT DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT
  • You will oversee and manage all aspects of store design projects (new store openings, renovations, and instore fixture development) including concept design, project management and implementation and roll-out
  • You will adapt global design concepts to create test layouts and design proposals for retail opportunities at US specific retail channels for department store counters, open-sell and in-store fixtures
  • You will prepare project briefs, design intent documents, schematic design drawings and 3D renderings for global HQ, US cross-functional partners and retailer approvals
  • You will coordinate all store design initiatives with Visual Merchandising, Marketing and Sales in a timely manner to gain alignment
  • You will gather and manage feedback on design initiatives from all key stakeholders and cross-functional partners and adjust concept design accordingly

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
  • You can multi-task, manage and execute several projects in a timely and efficient manner from concept to execution
  • You will ensure highest level of excellence in creative and executional phases of work, including key business drivers such as budgets, timelines, and quality control
  • You will work with ED, US Store Design to build CapEx budgets for approval by Marketing & Finance
  • You will create, own, and manage project budgets based on approved CapEx
  • You will create, own, and manage project workflows and detailed timelines
  • You will manage all external consultant and vendor communication
  • You will manage RFP process for all new counter, renovation, and in-store fixture projects
  • You will review consultant / vendor proposals, technical and production shop drawings to ensure compliance with design intent and approved budgets
  • You will recommend design solutions and value engineering options to ensure projects adhere to approved budgets
  • You will attend critical offsite meetings with production vendors to review prototypes and fixture development
  • You will oversee new store installations & renovations on site
  • You will coordinate with Visual Merchandising to schedule and oversee new store opening photoshoots
  • You will partner with production vendors and Visual Merchandising after installation to create punch list

WHO YOU ARE
  • You have a minimum of 10 years of experience in luxury beauty or fashion industry with an understanding of the industry's fast and unique pace and deadlines
  • You have an architecture / Interior Design / Industrial design degree with proven design, production, and construction-related experience
  • You are highly proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
  • You must have proven leadership experience, including leading discussions, guiding the team in a positive and constructive way, being accountable and holding people accountable
  • You must have strong communication skills, to articulate ideas clearly and concisely and to listen effectively
  • You have strong project management skills with an understanding of budgets, project workflows and timelines
  • You must be hands-on and able to manage and execute projects independently from start to finish with an uncompromising attention to detail
  • You can thrive in a fast-paced environment with a willingness and ability to be agile and resourceful under tight deadlines
  • You can balance design, innovation, and creativity with commercial and business needs
  • You are knowledgeable in working with high-quality materials, finishes, furniture & fixtures to maintain the luxury image of Shiseido brands

The base pay for this position may vary based on geographic location. Actual base pay offered will be based on several factors including job-specific knowledge, education, skills, and depth of experience. In addition to base pay, we may offer additional forms of compensation as components of a total compensation package, including participation in our bonus program which features the ability to overachieve, in addition to a full range of competitive benefits.
