Job description

Summary: The Software Licensing Sales Specialist is responsible for software sales licensing management for the company. Primary responsibilities will be for external client sales with secondary responsibilities for the internal software licensing needs of the company. This role requires an individual to be detail oriented, organized, diligent, resourceful, and a quick learner.The individual must be a self-starter with excellent organizational, administrative and interpersonal skills; self-motivated and proactive. The most important focus is centered around Microsoft Volume Licensing Programs with an emphasis on academic Licensing. An ideal candidate will also have experience in Microsoft CSP licensing to assist the company with growth in Microsoft subscription licensing. Volume licensing sales in Adobe subscriptions including the various Adobe Agreement types supporting education customers is another key focus. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Provide volume licensing expertise across the organization, including direct support to Account Managers addressing customer software licensing needs, with a primary focus on Microsoft CASA, Microsoft CSP, Adobe ETLA, and other subscription and transactional offerings. 
  • Use the company’s software licensing management tool (ServiceNow) to support a corporate strategy for systematically tracking, evaluating, and managing software licenses to ensure compliance. 
  • Contribute to overall account planning by developing and executing software licensing strategies that drive revenue growth and annuity sales within existing customers, as well as supporting outreach to new customers. 
  • Support responses to customer software licensing requests, including RFPs, bids, and quoting opportunities identified by the company. 
  • Assist in customer negotiations to maximize contract value and customer satisfaction while simplifying the licensing experience and promoting “right licensing.” 
  • Manage both internal and external software licensing relationships, including direct vendor relationships with Microsoft and Adobe; internal account teams; and indirect relationships with distributors and partners. 
  • Serve as the primary operational resource for the company’s Microsoft software licensing agreements, including contract and amendment processing, resolution of operational issues, and support for Product Sales Teams and customers on service and satisfaction matters. 
  • Provide licensing consultation and opportunity strategies in collaboration with Product Sales and support teams for daily quotes and other licensing opportunities involving current and prospective clients. 
  • Collaborate with internal departments—including Accounting, Internal IT, ITAM, Legal, and Executive Management—to support company goals and initiatives related to software licensing and vendor/partner relationships. Perform other duties as assigned by management. 
  • Participate in training opportunities offered by Microsoft and Adobe to remain current on licensing changes and communicate relevant updates to internal teams. 
  • Other job duties as assigned. 

Required Education, Knowledge, and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, or Engineeringorthe equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Licensing. 
  • 3+ years of experience as a Microsoft/Adobe reseller, distributor or Microsoft representative.  

Abilities & Skills: 

  • Skilled in managing contract vehicles (enrollments, etc.) and pricing. 
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written); ability to anticipate informational needs of diverse audiences and tailor communications appropriately. 
  • Excels at time management, project leadership and follow-up and follow through. 
  • Ability to prioritize work and coordinate multiple tasks within time constraints. 
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and deal tactfully and confidentially with internal and external customers at all organizational levels in a dynamic environment. 
  • Ability to successfully work as a team and independently. 
  • Ability to follow through with tasks/projects/troubleshooting with minimal supervision. 
  • Ability to execute and focus on results. 
  • Ability to anticipate questions, issues, and concerns and acts as an effective troubleshooter 
  • Supports and conducts self in a manner consistent with customer service expectations \

  • Must be able to communicate with people outside the organization, represent the organization to customers, the public, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, through Microsoft Teams Chat, Teams Calls or through e-mail. 
  • Must be willing to adapt to changing work shifts/hours dependent upon specific client, vendor, or internal customer needs.  
  • Must be able to work in an environment with moderate noise levels.

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
