Position Description:

Leads the design of scalable, secure software solutions using Java, Spring Boot, GitHub Copilot, Postgres SQL, and REST APIs. Oversees Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and containerized deployments on cloud platforms.Ensurescompliance with secure coding practices and industry standards. Analyzes user needs and translates them into technical requirements and system designs. Draws on in-depth knowledge of the business or function to provide business unit-wide solutions by developing complex, multi-faceted software applications.Researchesandrecommendsnew technologiesin support of the strategic direction of the business unit andparticipatesin the research and recommendation ofappropriate models, methods, tools, and technologies to achieve business-unit-wide solutions. Leads andmentorsteam of engineers, drives technical strategy and delivery, and makes a significant impact on technology landscape.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Translates and incorporates business vision and strategy to architectural strategy recommendations at the functional level.

  • Participates in high-level, cross-functional architecture design teams.

  • Identifiesand consults with internal and external technical resources to produce cross-company strategicdesigns.

  • Consults on development and delivery of major technology initiatives for the business unit.

  • Consults on deployment of major project deliverables.

  • Consults on the documentation of major technology applications.

  • Oversees the technical implementation of cross-divisional or company architectural components.

  • Initiates and drives project or strategy discussions with users or external groups to resolve issues.

  • Sets vision, goals, and direction of team/organization.

  • Plans and leads organization-wide initiatives.

  • Provides leadership, technical supervision, andexpertiseto multiple teams in broad technical areas on complex organization-wide projects.

  • Advisessenior management on technical strategy.

  • Researchesandrecommendsnew technologies.

  • Works across groups toidentifyopportunities for organization-wide technology initiatives.

  • Regularly provides guidance, training, and coaching to other team members for performance and career development.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and six (6) years of experience as a Director, Software Engineering (or closely related occupation) developing applications that support healthcare recordkeeping products.

Or, alternatively,Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and four (4) years of experience as a Director, Software Engineering (or closely related occupation) developing applications that support healthcare recordkeeping products.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must alsopossess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE")performing development, incident management, and production support -- maintaining highly sensitive client data involving complex batch processing and third-party electronic feed integrations -- within a health insurance and healthcare domain, using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Data, JPA, REST Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), Kafka, and Kafka Connect.

  • DEperforming Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and Java Web application development using Java/J2EE, Spring MVC, Spring Security, SOAP, and RESTful Web Services; developing micro-services architecture using Service Oriented Architecture (SOA); and writing effective SQL stored procedures, optimizing existing structures, and fine-tuning SQL code.

  • DEdeveloping enterprise applications in a complex distributed environment, using OOD; implementing enterprise-wide Web Services and API solutions, using SOAP and REST designprinciples; and creating operational procedure documents and release documents for every release.

  • DEperforming data profiling, mining, specification, extraction, cleansing, and analysis for large relational databases -- Postgres; developing and building SQL code using Git-stash; conducting release management usinguDeploy; maintaining automation and implementation processes using SourceTree and Jenkins; building shell scripts to automate batch processing using Control M; and generating consumer reports using PL/SQL and Postgres functions.
