Responsibilities

Samsung SDS America is seeking a highly driven Director of Logistics Business Development to lead strategic sales growth and expand logistics business operations across North America. This role is responsible for developing new customer relationships, driving revenue growth, and building a high-performing sales organization focused on freight forwarding, transportation, warehousing, and integrated logistics solutions. The ideal candidate is a results-oriented sales leader with a strong logistics industry network, proven customer acquisition success, and hands-on leadership experience managing high-performing sales teams in a fast-paced environment.

1. Business Development & Revenue Growth

  • Drive new customer acquisition and sustainable revenue growth across freight forwarding, transportation, warehousing, and integrated logistics solutions
  • Leverage existing logistics industry relationships and networks to identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities
  • Own and achieve revenue, profitability, and business growth targets for the assigned region and sales organization
  • Lead strategic sales activities including customer presentations, RFQs/RFPs, pricing discussions, contract negotiations, and commercial proposals
  • Develop market expansion strategies and identify high-value business opportunities aligned with company objectives
  • Establish long-term customer partnerships while expanding wallet share and account growth opportunities

2. Sales Leadership & Organization Development

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing logistics sales organization focused on growth and operational excellence
  • Recruit, coach, mentor, and manage sales personnel to drive accountability, performance, and professional development
  • Establish sales KPIs, forecasting processes, pipeline reviews, and performance management standards
  • Monitor team and individual sales performance to ensure achievement of revenue and profitability targets
  • Develop sales training programs, reporting structures, and sales tools to improve operational efficiency and execution
  • Foster a performance-driven culture focused on customer acquisition, strategic growth, and collaboration

3. Cross-Functional & Business Management

  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Pricing, Finance, Legal, Procurement, and Solution teams to support customer opportunities and business execution
  • Provide regular business updates, sales forecasts, pipeline reporting, and performance analysis to executive leadership
  • Support organizational management activities including hiring, onboarding, incentive planning, and sales operations management
  • Serve as a liaison between headquarters, executive leadership, and operational teams to ensure alignment with company objectives and strategic initiatives
  • Operate effectively within a fast-paced, matrixed corporate environment while managing multiple priorities and stakeholders

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in the global third-party logistics (3PL) industry, including extensive logistics and transportation experience supporting customers in the automotive, high-tech, consumer packaged goods (CPG), and/or garment industries.
  • Proven track record of generating new business opportunities and converting prospects into long-term customer partnerships
  • Strong existing network within the logistics, freight forwarding, transportation, or supply chain industry preferred
  • Demonstrated success achieving revenue growth, profitability targets, and sales performance objectives
  • Proven leadership experience building, developing, and managing successful sales teams
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all organizational levels, including executives and C-level leadership
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and executive stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Willingness to travel as needed for customer meetings, business development activities, and industry events
  • Required to work on site, Plano, TX

Your base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This allows you to progress as you grow and develop within the position. Your base pay will depend on your skills, education, qualifications, experience, and location. This Sales position is under *Sales bonus policy. *Sales bonus is paid quarterly based on operating profit and sales revenue achievement rate based on KPI/Revenue Target.
