Job description

Location: Charlotte, NC
Travel: Regional travel required
Experience: 10+ years of safety leadership/management experience

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Safety Consultant with a strong Safety Director background to serve as a trusted safety resource for our clients and internal team. This individual will be based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and will serve as an on-call safety resource for assigned clients, providing leadership, guidance, field support, and practical solutions as safety needs arise. This is not a traditional staffing or consulting position. We are looking for a seasoned safety professional who has spent significant time leading safety programs, managing teams, advising operations, and making sound decisions in the field.

The ideal candidate has previously served as a Safety Director, Corporate Safety Manager, EHS Director, or similar senior safety leader and is interested in bringing that experience to a hands‑on, client‑focused role. This position is well suited for a seasoned safety leader who knows how to translate experience into practical guidance. We are particularly interested in experienced safety leaders who enjoy staying engaged in the industry and want to apply their years of leadership experience without necessarily returning to a traditional corporate Safety Director position

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a senior safety resource and trusted advisor for assigned clients.
  • Provide on‑call safety leadership and support based on client needs.
  • Evaluate client safety programs, policies, procedures, and field practices.
  • Support clients with safety program development, implementation, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct jobsite and facility safety assessments and provide actionable feedback.
  • Coach and mentor client safety personnel, supervisors, and operational leaders.
  • Assist with incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
  • Support OSHA compliance and help clients prepare for or respond to regulatory inspections and safety concerns.
  • Deliver safety meetings, training, and leadership coaching as needed.
  • Step into client environments with the confidence and judgment expected of an experienced Safety Director.
  • Travel to client locations and respond to changing client needs and priorities.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in a safety management or leadership role, with significant experience at the Safety Director, Corporate Safety Manager, EHS Director, or comparable level.
  • OSHA 500 – Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for Construction.
  • CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) certification.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety programs.
  • Proven ability to work directly with company leadership, field management, supervisors, and employees.
  • Strong communication, coaching, problem‑solving, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Must be based in the Charlotte, NC area.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to support clients.
  • Must be a collaborative, flexible team player who is comfortable responding to changing client needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience serving as a Safety Director or senior safety leader within construction or a closely related industry.
  • Experience overseeing multiple locations, projects, or safety professionals.
  • Experience interacting directly with senior executives and operational leadership.
  • Broad field experience combined with strong safety program and policy expertise.
