Automation Engineer

Location: Anderson, SC
Department: Engineering
Reports To: Automation Supervisor


Join Our Team

We are seeking a hands-on Automation Engineer to support and improve automated manufacturing systems in a fast-paced production environment. This role is responsible for programming, troubleshooting, and optimizing robotics, PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, and manufacturing controls to improve safety, quality, productivity, and equipment reliability.


The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex technical problems, working closely with production teams, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.


What You'll Do

  • Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC, HMI, and robotic automation systems.
  • Support automated production equipment to maximize uptime and efficiency.
  • Diagnose and resolve controls, electrical, and automation-related issues.
  • Lead root cause analysis activities and implement corrective actions.
  • Support new equipment installations, commissioning, and production launches.
  • Develop and maintain automation documentation, schematics, and standards.
  • Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to improve plant performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.


What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience with industrial automation systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, and robotic systems.
  • Strong understanding of industrial controls, electrical systems, and automation technologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ABB robots.
  • Experience with Omron PLCs and HMIs.
  • Experience with Keyence vision systems.
  • Plastics, blow molding, injection molding, or high-volume manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with manufacturing data systems, continuous improvement, and equipment commissioning.
