Part of a nation wide family of Continuing Care Retirement Communities: Colonial Acres at Covenant Village of Golden Valley is seeking a part time Registered Nurse.
We have the following positions open:
Evenings; part-time
Overnights; full and part-time
In this role, the RN will:
  • This position reports to the Director of Nursing and is staff in nature. The position provides routine day-to-day direction and monitoring of the LPNs and nursing assistants assigned to the unit and provides direct care to residents. In performance of duties, the registered nurse is entrusted to provide routine daily direction and monitor the work of the LPNs and nursing assistants on the unit, assuring a high standard of nursing care and satisfactory completion of tasks.
  • Assist in the orientation of new nursing personnel and reinforce training standards to maintain a high quality of care.
  • Assist in motivating LPNs and CNAs assigned to the nursing unit. Provide explanation of nursing procedures and assistance to staff to assure ongoing understanding and training. Communicate on a regular basis with the Director of Nursing regarding assessments, observations, and suggestions of problem areas, resident and employee activities, concerns, needs, conditions, etc.
  • Observe and evaluate residents' health, mental and emotional conditions and communicate significant changes to appropriate staff. When indicated is responsible for notifying the physician and family members according to prescribed procedures.
  • Provide direct patient care as appropriate including, but not limited to, procedures such as catheter placement and care, colostomy care, suction, dressings, naso-gastric tubes and other treatments.
  • Participate in report at the beginning and end of shifts to assure proper information about residents is communicated. Assist in the admission, orientation, and assessments of new residents, assure that physician orders for diets, therapy, medication, etc. are transcribed and communicated according to procedure.

Qualifications
Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing, required.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Minnesota, required.
  • Ability to work within standard policies and procedures, required.
  • Tact and excellent communication skills (written and verbal, English), and be ability to communicate effectively with administration, staff, and residents, required.
  • Availability to work beyond normal working hours, required. Availability on weekends and holidays, or on days and shifts other than those for which hired, required.
