Job description

NFL Media Technical Operations is seeking an experienced Audio 1 (A1) to lead audio production for live and recorded programming across NFL Media platforms. This position serves as the primary audio lead responsible for the planning, execution, mixing, and overall quality of audio elements supporting studio, remote, and special event productions. 

The ideal candidate possesses extensive live broadcast audio experience, strong technical expertise in modern IP-based audio environments, and a proven ability to perform in fast-paced, high-profile sports production settings. Production services will be based at NFL Media's state-of-the-art broadcast facility in Inglewood, California. 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead audio mixer for live and recorded productions, ensuring the highest level of audio quality and operational excellence.
  • Design, configure, and execute complex audio workflows for studio shows, remote broadcasts, special events, and digital productions.
  • Operate and mix live productions utilizing broadcast audio consoles, playback systems, communication systems, and IP-based audio infrastructure.
  • Collaborate closely with producers, directors, technical directors, engineering teams, and production personnel to deliver consistent and impactful audio experiences.
  • Develop and maintain show-specific audio configurations, routing strategies, and operational workflows.
  • Lead audio planning for remote productions, transmission paths, venue integration, and signal management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical audio issues in real time while maintaining on-air continuity.
  • Oversee proper setup, operation, and optimization of communications systems, including Riedel intercom platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with broadcast audio standards and best practices across stereo, surround sound, and emerging audio formats.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and operational direction to A2 and A3 personnel and freelance audio staff as needed.
  • Maintain proficiency in emerging broadcast technologies, IP networking standards, and audio production workflows.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional broadcast audio experience, including significant experience mixing live sports and studio productions.
  • Proven experience serving as an Audio 1 (A1) or senior-level broadcast audio mixer in a professional television, streaming, or live event environment.
  • Advanced experience operating SSL audio consoles; experience with SSL System T and S500 platforms strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in stereo, 5.1 surround, and multi-channel broadcast audio mixing.
  • Extensive knowledge of IP-based audio infrastructures, including AES67, Dante, SMPTE 2110, and related broadcast networking technologies.
  • Experience supporting complex remote productions, transmission workflows, and large-scale live event broadcasts.
  • Strong understanding of broadcast signal flow, routing, communications systems, and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Proficiency with playback systems, audio servers, and broadcast production technologies.
  • Experience working with Riedel communications systems and networked intercom environments preferred. 

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting national sports broadcasts and large-scale live events.
  • Dante Certification or equivalent IP audio networking credentials.
  • Experience with EVS audio workflows and replay systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based or remote production environments.
  • CTS, Dante, or other relevant industry certifications.
