POSITION

Property Director of Marketing & Public Relations for The Mall at Greece Ridge (1.6M SQ FT)
Reports to Chief Marketing Officer and Property General Manager
On-Site position in Greece, NY

ABOUT
Wilmorite is a leading commercial real estate development and management company based in Rochester, NY. The company operates four shopping centers in the Rochester market, including Eastview, The Mall at Greece Ridge, and Pittsford Plaza. Wilmorite has diverse experience developing state-of-the-art shopping centers, academic facilities, standard dormitories, apartment-style student housing suites, mixed-use complexes, large first-class hotels, casinos, resorts, and detailed renovations. It is a company devoted to being an active community member and forming alliances with other businesses and organizations that share these principles. Wilmorite has been a family-owned business for 70+ years, with the third generation of family members on the senior management team.

DESCRIPTION
We seek a highly organized, energetic, and creative marketing professional to implement the strategic marketing plan. The ideal candidate will be an experienced, self-motivated individual with skillful writing skills, creativity, and ability to multi-task. This position requires leadership and the ability to see what needs to be done. Planning and organization are crucial to success.

The Director of Marketing and Public Relations will work closely with the on-site management team for projects specific to the individual property(s) and the Wilmorite marketing team on joint campaigns and for consistency and branding compliance.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute strategic marketing plan and budget as approved and rebuild annually
  • Regular posting and updates to social media platforms, website, and email blasts weekly
  • Keeping mall signage, directories, and printed collaterals continually current
  • Plan and execute mall promotional events to drive traffic and sales to mall tenants
    (2-3/month) (Requires some nights & weekends). Maintain mall events calendar.
  • Work with not-for-profit organizations on events and fundraisers
  • Write and distribute press releases for new store openings, events, and newsworthy happenings. Establish a relationship with local media and be prepared to respond to crisis situations with the Chief Marketing Officer. Measure all PR generated.
  • Utilize new advertising campaign with agency of record to fit the season by making minor changes, writing radio copy, and adjusting digital ads
  • Book advertising through established media buyers in advance and work with the Chief Marketing Officer on approvals
  • Maintain social media advertising plan and generate posts 1-2 times a week
  • Be a team player and work with the marketing team on joint mall advertising and sharing the responsibilities of holiday execution
  • Oversee the customer service manager and staff to ensure gift card protocols are followed, the booth is staffed during required hours, and paperwork is completed thoroughly and timely. Assist manager with hiring and scheduling. Approve paperwork and serve as back-up to the manager when needed (i.e., vacation, sick)
  • Establish relationships with mall tenants by visiting stores, talking to managers, tracking sales, and responding with marketing support and ideas (spend 25% of the time in the mall with tenants)
  • Become an on-site expert on the mall and report to corporate as needed or at meetings on sales performance and tenant’s point of view
  • As part of the on-site management team, assist with the office duties as needed – be a team player! With a small team of four, you will need to fill in and help others in a busy office
  • Serve as community relations representative by attending local chamber meetings, becoming involved in visitor’s associations and trade organizations that relate to the position/industry or have a regional benefit to the company

LOCATION/HOURS

  • Office located at The Mall at Greece Ridge Monday-Friday
  • Requires travel within Rochester for meetings *Must have a car and valid driver’s license
  • Requires attendance at all events *nights/weekends
  • Some extra hours/weekends may be required during the holiday season when extra management staff is needed at the malls
  • Due to public relations responsibilities, cell availability is needed in off hours/ as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Baccalaureate Degree in business, marketing, or a related degree
  • Five+ years of experience as marketing director, public relations/communications manager, or events planner.
  • Graphic Design or experience with Adobe Creative Suite required
  • Event planning and social media experience a plus
